Are you sure 12 Ka-31s were ordered? I believe it’s only 9.
LM and IN toyed with the idea of having a E-2C in a very light config operating off the Vikramaditya. But the calculations show that the E-2 would be so low on fuel that it would have an endurance of an hour or so. The IN doesn’t have any IFR tankers to let the E-2 top up at altitude, so in that config, even the Ka-31 has better endurance than the E-2.
This is actually an insult to all those who worked hard on building it. They should’ve turned it into a museum.
It’s not an insult. The AMERICA served her nation well in service and served her nation VERY well in “death”. She has her own special place in history.
It’s not 7k tons. It’s almost 20k tons full load.
Screws are usually bronze
According to Jane’s (either M&R or NI, forgot), the upgraded IN Mays will have the ability to launch Kh-35s. I am assuming 2 can be carried, one under each wing. The Kh-35s will also be the most likely ASM for the Mig-29Ks as well.
Is there an economic offset for this deal ??? anybody.
Yeah, Mazagon SY acquires the ability to make submarines 🙂
It looks like it has obstacle avoidance capabilities. The second red bullet is the key information in regard to your question.
What is the proposed radar fit for the Vikramaditya?
Don’t forget RAM either, it’s a very modern and capable missile.
No one makes ships with massive physical armoring like battleships of old. Now, the emphasis is on hard and soft killing of the missile before it even gets to your ship via CIWS, ECM, etc. The defensive measures go out further by killing the shooter before it has a chance to engage you. The best defense against the Brahmos is to sink the ship that is carrying them.
All in all lots of kool feature there in brahmos will make even the best out there respect it , we seem to have all the good features in Brahmos , Now can we have the Range Please 🙂
NPO Mash says that the Yakhont-M
adheres to the 300 km range restriction imposed by the
MTCR agreement, but the missile’s basic design is
clearly capable of exceeding this figure.
India as a codeveloper, doesn’t need to adhere to MTCR because it is “developing” the missile, not importing it. :diablo:
The dimensions of that disputed sub seem to corelate with a U-209 if one uses the nearby Tarantul as a rough scale.
Long patrols? :p
Most navies in the world don’t deploy for more than one week or so, especially on small ships like corvettes.
Austin, all the models of the P-17 and the P-15A show them with the RAWL and Top Plate, what has changed?
Also, just for kicks and giggles would the IN consider basing the P-28s on this rather than on the Russian ‘vette? It’s the Gowind, a French corvette design for export…
