Akash is India’s first inhouse SAM project. Baby steps… 🙂

Building the LCA and building the Migs and Jags is a completely different ball game.

The LCA program forced the Indian aero industry to mature faster, not as fast as it was hoped but faster than if there was no LCA program. The LCA program will come to fruition. There’s no way around it because the IAF can’t afford to buy 200+ frontline a/c from someone else.

Think about it this way. The name of the game in selling fighters is offsets. Think of the advancement of the Indian aero industry through the entire spectrum of low-med-high tech as the offset to buying the LCA. That is something no other aircraft, company, or country can match.

I doubt BAe would transfer tech on EVERYTHING in the Gripen. But with the LCA, Indian companies get the tech transfer on every piece of equipment along with export rights. 🙂 That’s a the best offset.

There’s sweet irony in your post. The IJT came about because of the LCA. No LCA, then no IJT, no MCA, etc.

Oops, MOO3 is Master of Orion 3. MOO1 was great. MOO2 was OK. MOO3 was aweful.

The LCA isn’t meant to show that Indian entities can design and build a plane. It’s meant to develope an aeronautical industry and infrastructure in the country. That can’t be done by buying other people’s stuff.

The LCA and Gripen are too close in tech and too close in capabilities. No point in spending money to have a redundancy.

I used to play Civ3 bout 1.5 yrs back but then I just got tired of trying to play around the multitude of issues that game has and just gave up. It was a good idea… horribly implemented.

MOO3 was a utter disappointment. I was waiting 4 yrs for that. What a waste of a cd that game was. Right now, I am all into Madden 2k4 on the PC and KotOR on the XBox. 🙂

I tried Il-2 Sturmovik. One of the best sims EVER but hard as balls tho. Frustratingly hard. One hit and my engine starts flaming up. That’s not realistic 😀

    And my dog’s doing well…

The Indian media outlets are reporting verbatim from the Pakistani report. Indian media isn’t independently verifying anything just regurgitating a report riddled with inaccuracies and downright stupid comments.

If you want to take that report seriously, then go ahead. But I will wait for a report that makes me laugh a little less before I take it seriously.

That maybe true but everytime the PAF sees the IAF, the PAF winds up needing to change its BVDs afterwards. 😀 Hopefully along with BVRs, they also have a good supply of BVDs.

Not a flame, but now I am just having fun with this thread. The topic is waaay too funny not to make fun of it.

Why’s the reinforcing of the deck worrisome? What’s another few hundred tons of steel compared to the thousands… drop in the bucket 🙂

I am looking foward to next yr myself. I saw an interview of the director and from what he said, I was;t really thrilled with the plot. The books would have been such a better plot material. But oh well. I’ll see it anyways 😀

“you *******s, you blew it up, you blew it all up…”

    minus the overacting.

Re: A-stan, I think the US bombed them forward into the stone age. Before the US was there, I think Afghanistan was about a couple of centuries from achieving tool making capability. 🙂
