Thanks, 🙂 have a funny feeling I am going to be a lot poorer in the near future….
Hi Guys, thanks for the responses,
Yes I do drive, and yes I really want to go for my PPL…I wish I had done it a lot sooner, flying with Bristol and Wessex Aeroplane Club….Found driving or learning to, easy enough… passed 1st time! This ranks up another lifetime ambition, almost as good as flying on Concorde! 🙂
Yep, thats the one…..
There is a picture of it, am just trying to find it…….
found this link hope it works, http://www.avrovulcan.org.uk/603/pull.htm
apoligies if a duplicated one….
I some what doubt the money being spent on XL426 or similar would be spent on anything other than what it is. You have your money you take your choice. All this use the money for something else arguments are pointless.
I fully agree with that remark, In this day and age any-one that is willing to preserve what has played a role in shaping our history with regard to avaition has to be a positive thing, regardless of whether we like the type or not, those that do pay their money and make their choice, it does not mean that its the wrong choice, I would willingly sweep the hanger floor if it meant that I could be close and see these historical aircraft maintained and even running.
Some may say thats a token gesture I say try me? I applaud anyone that is willing and is preserving any type, Vulcan or not, Preservation of any type is a good thing, it is the freedom of choice, ambition, fufilling dreams…thats what drive these people to do so..I take my hat off to them and hope that I can play some kind of role, so my kids can appreciate the value of our history and heritage…something that should never be forgotten…
I love the parashoot popping shot.

have a couple more of her actual run, deploying parachute etc, will post some more up
Hang on gents! There are females here too!
Great Pics! Fitting tribute!
Thanks David for the clarification, I was taking it in the literal sense that had a undercover shelter been avaliable in the first place for these airframes it would not be an issue maybe.. the fact that 2 years on there is still no sign of one other than costings, no planning permission granted etc nothing concrete, that will it not inturn have a knock on effect in the security of other exhibits based at nearby Kemble. They are reliant are they not on the future of being preserved, even if with a duplicated Concorde airframe, granted they or some of them are undercover, so begs the question even if duplicating and preserving yet another Concorde surely is better if the fate of other airframes in the collection are resting on it?.I have now gone away from the topic, but it is interesting to see what opinions are on the term of “Preservation” and lessons in how to avoid the same fate that Im sure and sorry to say will crop up again sometime soon…..
Well put XL391, Are we now saying that every airframe that does not go inside straight away is now doomed… quite a worrying thought isnt it?. of course if i am barking up the “wrong tree” please stop me…are the Concorde airframes at Manchester and Filton doomed, not worth preserving anymore because the money was not there in the first place for them to be undercover exhibits? will Filton even get built at present..its gone very quiet of late.. just an example..good grief will Preservation Clubs with airframes outside be thinking whats the point? Call in the scrappers save a few quid?
odd turn this thread has taken! You are all discussing a piece of scrap that was probably given to the ebay vendor by the scrappy….who cares! buy it if you want, dont if you dont want it!
I was merely posing a question, nothing odd about it..! I would much prefer to see the said Spare! in its said place! on the aircraft…unfortunate that its an impossibility now…unfortunate also that its a sad fact certain people have little or no regard to protecting pieces of aviation history anymore, that people are more interested in flogging them to the highest bidder on ebay in the first place…and therefore does it make it right? Like you say who cares!
Unfortunate that some of us do I guess…..
What are the rules on ebay for this if any? Can you make a profit from what you dont own?
