Su-15 were flown in flights of multiples generally of 4, operating in pairs.
In my personal first hand experience of seeing them react to our RC-135s and EP-3E’s in the Soviet Far East in the mid-1980s, I’ve never seen more than two Su-15s aloft at the same time. It was standard PVO practice to have two Su-15s on QRA at all times at each base (I’m familiar with Anadyr and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskij), and in every case I ever saw, the pair were launched.
F-106A 58-0772 of the 171st FIS, Michigan ANG. This artwork was only on the aircraft for a VERY short time. The 171st flew Sixes from 1972 to 1978 (and a sad day it was when they left Selfridge ANGB).

Wow!! Thanks everyone. That’s far superior to anything I’ve ever seen!
Those are great, thanks!
Anyone have any current ANG airplanes?
Tks!

Such a contrast. Everything the US military produces is free for all, public domain, etc…
Such lunacy, perhaps even vicarious shame. It’s just appalling and saddening.
Not so. Both NASA and the US Coast Guard have trademarked their respective logos. I’m not quite sure how that’s possible, given that the US Government does not copyright its works, nor has any other agency tried this little gimmick.
To the subject at hand, I’d *love* to see the MoD try to do anything about me using the roundel, badges, etc on a piece of decal art. Please. Let’s get real folks. The UK Government (like governments everywhere) has *much* better things to do with its taxpayer money than silliness like this.
Great stuff here! Can I resurrect this thread and see if anyone has anything new to add to it? I’ve found some real gems here!

Thanks one and all. I should have been more specific – I’m looking for MiG-21 squadrons. I’ve downloaded every photo I’ve been able to find online, including all of the ones posted above. None of them is really clear enough for my purposes though. When you blow them up big enough to work with, they turn into a bunch of blobs.
I’m amazed that as colorful as the DACT markings are (were?) on the MiG-21s that there’s not more coverage of them out there.
Thanks!

Bump…

Still looking for any and all verifiable Syrian MiG-21 photos, especially if the above camo actually exists.
Tks!

Outstanding!! Thanks SO much! I wasn’t aware of that Kopro decal.
Anyone happen to know if the UM featured on that decal is unique in having the upper surface of the left hand flap in light grey? Was it replaced, or is that the actual camouflage pattern??
You guys are such a great help.
J
Here’s another one I’m looking for. I have photos of both sides, but nothing (and believe me, I’ve looked) showing what the upper surface pattern looks like. The left and right sides of the fuselage are different, so I don’t think the wings are a symmetrical pattern. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks! I actually tracked someone down who shot those a/c himself. He sent me a whole bunch of high res photos. What a gorgeous scheme. Thanks again for your help.
Any thoughts on that Syrian camouflage??
J
WOW! May I ask where on earth you found that!?!? And do you have any other shots of the a/c??
Thanks a million!

Here’s another one I’m most interested in. Specifically the round badge on the nose. Not sure what it is, but it appears to be a map of the middle east in the middle. Anybody have anything better?
Tks!
J
Many thanks! These Algerian birds are very elusive, and the Syrians seem even more xenophobic than the North Koreans (if that’s possible).
J
Many thanks. Those are all MiG-21bis’s except for that first one, which does indeed appear to be an MF in Egyptian ‘Nile Valley’ camouflage. Very interesting. Thanks for the additions and the information.
Now, about that alleged Syrian three tone camo… 🙂
