if i had to guess i would say you hit the nail on the head for a vast majority of them. the largest problem is the fact most have no will to do anything more than draw their “check” from the government. not much incentive to do anything when someone else is gonna hand it to them for free to begin with.

i guess i probably should clarify what i meant as it was some what bland to someone not familiar with it. my 13% is based on federal information on minorities not necasarily black youth in general as mentioned by tornado. 87% of the american population is listed as white caucation, the other 13% can be hispanic, indian, african decent ect. i invite you to look at the FBI website on crime stats, take a look at the stuff here;

And if you had this “unique” problem in the UK, your crime rate would go up as well.

13% of the US is made up of the “ELEMENT” you mentioned above, funny how that same 13% is responsible for 87% of the crime in this country. Remove these morons from the equation and our crime rate would be lower than the UK by a long shot. You can believe what you want to but thats just the way it is. Someone from the UK can only read about it, I live in the middle of it everyday. I see it with my own 2 eyes.

jim morals and respect have gone right out the window everywhere. it is just as crappy here. the younger folks here, their parents dont make them do anything that instills morals or character. fairly sad if you ask me.. 🙁

Can you imagine the scenario, an intruder in your house in the middle of the night, and YOU can’t make up you mind which one to pick up, no, not that one, that one, there again, that one would be better, if you get my drift.

Jim most of the fun stuff stays locked up so isnt readily accessable. They mostly only come out if we are taking a certain gun or 2 to a police dept or the like because they want a demonstration of a particular weapon before the department buys an amount of them. They are expensive at say 4 grand for one MP5. Better to get me to come let you try out several models to make a choice than to buy a gun the department would more or less be stuck with. Most of these guns are not obtainable by the general public. They are either priced so far out of sight that a normal person can buy a brand new car cheaper than some of these guns. The other senario is they were made after May 19th 1986 and are banned from civilian ownership in its entirety if the machine gun was made after that date. Sometimes we take em out just to shoot to have fun. However blowing a few thousand dollars of ammo just to go out shooting with your buddies don’t appeal to me very much. If I get one out to go shoot, I want someone that has the ability to buy that type of firearm to be shooting it in the hopes of selling that department some new guns. I dont mind letting people shoot them if they are buying the ammo. Even most folks really can’t see buying say a 30 dollar box of +P 9MM ammo just for maybe a minute of shooting.. It’s great one time but after you have done it, it isn’t that spectacular anymore. As for the low likelyhood of an intruder in my house, I have a Glock 17 I would light him up with. I know it may not seem like it on your side of the pond watching the news but overall not much really happens here. In your bigger cities you have gang and drug violence. However where I live it is a rarity as criminals prefer unarmed folks to prey on. Everyone here has a gun. Not much incentive to try to rob someone when they may pull a gun and kill you. As it was said once in an American movie by Robert DeNiro, “Most respect the badge, EVERYONE respects the gun” I know my views dont match most people in Europe on firearms ownership which is fine. However criminals are going to do what they damn well please. There is no stopping a crook from doing what he pleases, I think thats one thing we all can agree on. Gun control laws only keep the average Joe unarmed. Crooks love unarmed prey. I invite anyone here to the US for however long you want and you will see what I mean. I dont want to hurt anyone and don’t wish any harm to anyone it isnt due. I will defend myself and my family but between me and my wife we have only pulled a gun on someone 3 times. Me twice her once, this is over a 20 year time span. All 3 instances ended peacfully, we went home and the perp either went to jail or went on their way.
