Like the Kon Marine Neptune shot, for a brief moment I thought it was the RAFM Cosford one, but that is 204! Where was it taken?

The only place I saw 214 in this country was at Greenham Common on the 24/25 June 1977.

Underneath the Neptune there are what look like three F.111s. From what I can remember the there were several USAF F.111s parked on the far side at that show.

There is a bit of a “where are they now” theme, although in most cases the answer is fairly easy to discover.

    Spitfire I K9942 displayed Cosford
    Lysander R9125 displayed Hendon
Beaufighter X RD867 to Canada 1968 (or at least bits of it)
    Mosquito 35 TA639 displayed Cosford
    Tempest V NV778 displayed Hendon
    Meteor F.4 EE549 displayed Tangmere
Hunter F.4 WV398 to Swiss AF J-4203 Preserved airworthy Payerne
    P1B XG326 scrapped Foulness c.71

For me Coventry can be visited on a day out. It is just over a 200 mile round trip and I can also visit some relatives in the area.

Newquay is 650 miles there & back. The last couple of times I was there was to visit my brother who was stationed there at the time. And that was at least 15 years ago.

I certainly would not consider going all that way unless something really special was happening, like an airshow, not with today’s fuel prices.

Why was there no duplicate system (non ‘live’/production but a mirror image) where tests of new application software (to almost destruction) were being constantly carried out?

Like a lot of companies these days they cannot “afford” the duplicate system
because it costs money and they would make less profit.

Does that reg end OA? If it does there doesn’t seem to be a de-registered match from GINFO.

I couldn’t find a match for DA either.

    Very nice.

I had a 40 minute passenger flight in that aircraft in 1990 out of Dubendorf. One of my nicest pleasure flights.

In really expensive ugly buildings 😉

Can’t really tell if the buildings are ugly on the inside.

There are too many aircraft hanging around to see properly.
