I have just found the photos I took the last time I was there in September 2006. We arrived late in the day and were told they were about to close. We had about 10 minutes to have a look around.

    Part 1.

Cameraman and the others are getting uncomfortably close to the intake end of that engine.

This clip shows what happened when the cameraman got a bit close to the rear end! 😮

the long term forecast says its not looking good but we want it to change so come one lets get all the aircraft lined up and blow the crap weather over to the French they are welcome to it :diablo::diablo::diablo:

Doesn’t weather forecasting have the same differing views as the “restoration/rebuilding/authenticity” of old aircraft?

    This forecast isn’t too bad…….

The problem seems to be telling the difference between a spade and a shovel.

Definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary :

    Spade
    noun
    · a tool with a sharp-edged, typically rectangular, metal blade and a long handle, used for digging or cutting earth, sand, turf, etc..
    · a tool shaped like a spade but used for another purpose, especially one for removing the blubber from a whale.
    · [as modifier] shaped like a spade: a spade bit
    verb
    [with object]
    · dig over (ground) with a spade: while spading the soil, I think of the flowers
    · [with object and adverbial of direction] move (soil) with a spade: earth is spaded into the grave

    shovel (shovel)

    noun
a tool resembling a spade with a broad blade and typically upturned sides, used for moving coal, earth, snow, or other material: an area of turf had been dug up by vandals using a pick and shovel
a machine or part of a machine having a shape or function similar to that of a shovel.
an amount of something carried or moved with a shovel: a few shovels of earth
verb (shovels, shovelling, shovelled; US shovels, shoveling, shoveled)
    [with object and adverbial]
move (coal, earth, snow, or similar) with a shovel: shovelled coal on the fire
informal put or push (something, typically food) somewhere quickly and in large quantities: He was shovelling pasta into his mouth

Confuse yourself ….. “Take your pick” 😀

The fourth photo is most likely to be the aircraft first mentioned in this link….

Without knowing the registration its the best I can find.

(I knew there had to be a use for Google:D)

just one other but unidentified DC-7 here, thanks

    Gerry

    Your unidentified Dc.7 is N6000V c/n 45542.

Seen here from the other side in October 1989. You can clearly make out where the registration had been removed.

The National collection already has benchmark examples of all the types being disposed of.

There is a Ju52 at Cosford,

    Bruce

I always thought this was an ex Spanish Airforce CASA 352L:confused:

You must have missed them. I have a couple of bad photos taken of them in 2006, and the website mentioned in post #3 has a photo c.2006 with 50+ in the compound.

I have not been there since 2006.

There was not much remaining then.

This website gives some more up to date info.

Scroll about 1/3rd down the page and there is quite a bit about Chandler.

Cheers Keith. Not sure about the message about Lufty.

The aircraft has had this on the side since late 2006.
