Ok,we will buy 20 airplanes and you give us money for another 100 and each of them will have your name written on them!No way we can affort 120 airplanes and most important of all we do not need 120 airplanes.Somehow i think you were sarcastic.
The best opinion for us would be leasing Gripens before we can afford to buy something for good.I hope the politics woulnt influence too much what airplane will be bought.
well tks for ur regards, but no tks, as an indian my name on serbian a/c wont look fine ……. and no i was not sarcastic, if that number seems large we can cut it short like 40-60 a/c, what i meant was to have a decent enough a/c so as to counter any future NATO strike as 120 wud be enough (in addition to other supports) to put on hold NATO
well abt the 120 that i mentioned, is from the Russian AF, which is as of now not used anyway, so either u guys buy the second hand a/c and upgrade it or lease it from Russia for 5-10 yrs with the Russian condition that all will be upgraded to SMT standard …. etc etc ………
k u need to look the comparative numbers of Grippen and MiG-29’s that u might get for same amt of money, K Grippen is a new a/c with much better tech, but u’ll also be having the upgraded 29’s and not any downgraded one, and so will u need other support a/c for ur fighter sqadrons …… so finally it will come around to a handful of highly sophisticated a/c and comparatively double or more number of a/c with comparable technology, if not better facing a larger force. ….. and here u need to understand that numbers do ACTUALLY count in warfare and its a vaild one, else according to US pre-emptive policy Chinese military wud now have been reduced to non-combat value but for their large number of old a/c and even larger number of missile boats
but being sarcastic was the least that i meant with that one …… and just one more , r u a serb living in srbia or in Eurpoe or US?
hey tks for that pal, but i did not know ehere to look as i did not get whats written there ………
but is there not any picture section?….. i was hoping for that these are small pics and what i was looking was for some finer larger pics
and u got that am lazy……. well…. gotta agree…:D
anyway tks
I’d say the best option is to get like 120 x MiG-29s from Russia and upgrade it to the top SMT standard , that wud be cheap and also wud be a fine force and can be managed till 2015 to the max or so ……..
well where is the pic in that link?..i an’t understand anything….
can u guys post the pic of cockpit….and also the link to the pic section…..tks in advance
so finally some one started a rightful thread ……..
Yup Great Britain was past and Sun has set on the ‘Great’ British Emprire which many still have difficulty in coming to terms with (?) ……… but was Britain really GREAT ? hmmmmm …….. a colonial Britain Great?……… wow thats the most funniest part ….. a colonial power is GREAT where as a Communist Russia was EVIL …….. thats was the best joke for the last 50 yrs ……..
but then the EVIL EMPIRE was so EVIL that it was hell bend on exporting its political ideology to nations which was unsuccessful …….. and so was there a NOBEL EMPIRE to protect the world from this EVIL EMPIRE ….. but the NOBEL EMPIRE was so NOBEL that they thought it better to take control of all the wealth of other nations…….. where as the EVIL EMPIRE totally missed this one !!! …………….
and in turn …….. every other Nation who has its Natural wealth is under the ‘SAFE CUSTODY’ of the NOBEL EMPIRE that ……. it will be safe for EVER!
well i suppose some will have problems with my ‘NOBEL’ …… cause 😀
it seems like some reactor over-run (?) and nothing more? …… anyway BBC has not failed to bash Russia and have done it again w/o any fail …… the first bulletien that caught up with this showed the moscow reporter talking abt what exactly the Russian chief sais and he said it as ‘flying in air’ or something like that , but later on news did not feature that part and was edited so neatly …… but then kinds of these bashing has made sure that BBC never got any chance to celebrate and air any programmes or reports that they might have made for any successful landing on mars…… thats what Gods Given ….. and I love it …… love it not coz the hard work of the scientists got drained, but coz the bashers did not get chance to air their pleasentry reports …….
well anyway hope the Ship is k and no one gets injured or any shuch sort and returns to duty as soon as possible ……
some pics of M2

top view

and my favorite and probably the best one of M2 itself
Vympel,
well no idea as of now whats that poaching part is all abt, but any russian’s over here ? ….
Flanker_man , y is it that u don have a MiG-29 part to ur site, wont that be fine?
tks for that u both….. but where is Victor i suppose it was Charlie…or is he also called Victor?
and some details abt the Brazalian a/c deals ……. or has it already been made?
India carrier buy ups the ante in Asia/Pac
by Reuben F. Johnson
The Asia/Pacific region is about to see a significant change in the balance of naval and air power as India commits to another round of major weapon systems purchases from Russia. The first step in this geopolitical shift occurred last month when a high-level Russian delegation journeyed to New Delhi to sign contracts for the sale and refitting of the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier (to be delivered in 2008) and a full complement of Mikoyan MiG-29K carrier-capable fighters.
Officially, the carrier will be provided to the Indians free, but the modifications and other refits will run approximately $650 to $700 million. The MiG-29K contract is valued at another $700 million or more with a combined price tag for both programs of approximately $1.5 billion.
The Indian program is far-reaching in two aspects. First of all, it calls for an ambitious refitting of the Gorshkov that includes extending the ship’s flight deck to allow for the MiG-29K’s operational requirements and installing takeoff catapults similar to that used on U.S. and French-built carriers. No Russian carrier has ever been fitted with a catapult and no design bureau has experience with the construction of steam catapults, which has some skeptical observers asking if the 2008 deadline is feasible.
The second dimension is that this new version of the MiG-29K will be one of the most advanced aircraft to be produced thus far by Russia’s aerospace industry. The 12 MiG-29K-9.41 and four two-seat MiG-29KUB-9.47 models will be practically two generations beyond that of the original MiG-29K-9.31 airplane that was designed for the original Russian carrier trials in the late 1980s.
According to MiG officials, the new-generation MiG-29 is decidedly different from all other versions of the aircraft that have come before it and represents an entirely new era in the history of this aircraft. Furthermore, the production facilities at MiG have been measurably improved and are now the most advanced of their kind anywhere in the former Soviet Union.
The MiG-29K-9.41/7 variants will feature a combination of a new avionics suite and radar set that are more than 80 percent common with the other new Indian front-line aircraft, the Su-30MKI. One of the only differences is that while the Su-30MKI is equipped with a NIIP N011M Bars radar, the MiG-29K will have the latest derivative of the Phazotron Zhuk model. This unified avionics package will allow the Indians to cross-train pilots on more than one type of aircraft. MiG also plans to offer this new set of on-board systems as a retrofit modernization option for the Indian air force’s large fleet of land-based MiG-29s acquired in the 1980s.
The MiG-29K-9.41/7 will provide the pilot with a state-of-the-art digital fly-by-wire flight control system and a full-authority digital engine control (FADEC) module for the aircraft’s two Klimov RD-33K engines. Thrust vector control (TVC) is another option that has been offered. The cockpit will be an ultramodern design, featuring three 6- by 8-inch color displays and driven by a new design main mission computer. The Zhuk radar is also “definitely nothing like the old original 1990s N010 design,” said one MiG official.
As important as these new technologies are, the other significant advance with the new MiG-29K has been in the extensive use of advanced materials. As with the earlier MiG-29K model, the center wingbox section has the louvred, blown-in doors removed, but the material used is now a more advanced aluminum alloy that is more resistant to corrosion. The internal volume freed up by this change can then be used for fuel.
“Which means we end up with an aeroplane that holds more fuel than even the MiG-29SMT-9.17 version of the aircraft, has a stronger and more robust structure, but still weighs less,” said a senior designer.
But the black cloud that looms over the program is the desire by other enterprises in the Russian aerospace complex to poach part or all of this contract (along the $700 million to be made on it) away from MiG. “We are genuinely confident that the Indians will realize that this contract belongs at the firm where the aeroplane was designed and where the real expertise is,” said one MiG representative, “but we still are concerned.”

well all new will be transferred to M2 and also much have been taken from the M2 too ….
yo i do know matt, i was comparing the cone to others, I supose it is even smaller than the M2k (?) ….. and also the rafales feature the kind of radar now only coz of it being electronically scanned, else it wud have been very small one if it was in for mechanically scanned one …………
i was talking abt the comparative cones of other a/c like the EF, F-15, Su-27. Mig-29’s etc etc …… as all these have more spce inside to fit in a larger antenna ……. and so is it that the electronically scanned phases array thats been speculated on the MiG-29K hava a dia of 980mm from the earlier one of 680 mm (?) for the mechanically scanned
and whats the case with the EF?…. how much isits size?
grrr8 news and hope its true and see the light by 2017,
I guess it wud be based on the Gorshkov, but with a bit more chubbier in the front , with the three take-off position like the Kuzentzov, and also the longer one having a steam catapult too(?) but only if it is N-powered ………
and a couple of questions –
– Y is it that the Yak-44 (don expect wired ans like its not flyiny) cant be made to take off like h the fighter do…….. like making a take-off position at the extreme end of the landing strip so that it gets the entire landing strip for take-off ……….
– y cant it use the 3 position like on the Kuzentzov for a take-off, will it make any problem for the dome above coz of the jumb , is that Y its not being considerd for a ski-jump?
Flanker_man , if u don mind can u pm me?……. as i can’t pm u …..
I’d like the French to win the contract … hope this time around the US diplomacy don make headway in defence deals ….
but just wondring how much expansion cud be carried out on Rafales radar even if AESA as the cone is too small to make fit in a big one ?….any comments on that?
the three major things being –
combat load is now – 6,500 kg
internal fuel – 5,600 kgs
and definetely the spicing up of the avionics
and that means that the two most improtant things which restricted the MiG-29’s from being used more effectively has been just been reworked upon real good and so does the avionics , but wud like to see a more beautiful cockpit layout, the first thing being that light blue paint scheme, a black background wud be just fine as it wud do away that contrast and make the cockpit a bit better in viewing …….. after all the first impression of h modern an a/c lies inside the cockpit ……… else putting up all the dials ecte cte all over again in any modern fighter (however high the innner capablity maybe) ppl tend to look down up-on it …… and RAC-MiG has to do its homework on this one too ….
I don know y the Jane’s reporter summed up the combat load of just 4,500 kg…… the RAC-MiG quoted the combat load of M2 and K to be 6,500 Kg, well don know if it can be increased to atleast the SH’s level but wud definetely like to see it get increased …….
hey can u post more pic of Brazil’s a/c carrier in the navy thread ??…..
Now who knows the SH could add a few MiG-29s to its total but it still will not add up with the F-14 in terms of what it brings to the table.
well I guess ‘a’ score board start for the MiG-29K’s with SH wont be bad either 😀 ….. I’ll only love it …. either way there are 28-32 default F-16’s in MiG-29’s scoreboard to be entred as and when that happens …. but then they are pretty lucky guys to have not fallen prey to MiG-29’s and shut up those Fulcrum bashers (and ofcourse Russian bashers) …..
