Hi All , Trishul Missile is perhaps the most sophisticated short range missile ( 300mtrs-9000mtrs) of its kind , It has a Top speed of Mach-4.5 , and its a very agile missile made entirely of maragning steel capable of with standing high G-loads , It has a powerful Ka-band Guidande , capable of burning throu most of the countermeasures , Thats true for all k-ka band frequency , It uses a Fly-Catcher antenna for survellence , Tracking , and missile guidance , It uses command-guidande as a means of guiding missile , Till now the Naval system had guidance problem and as oon as the missile used to be launched it went erratic , But now DRDO has seemed to have solved it with the new guidance system , Both the Army and Airforce wiill use it as Anti-Aircraft , Anti-Cruise missile Missile replacing in the long run the Russian SA-8/13 , But the Naval variant which has an interesting role as anti sea skimmer role, Capable of hitting Subsonic & Supersonic missile (Even the barak dosent have capability to hit supersonic dancing AShM ) its way better than Barak missile as it has higher speed M-4.5 as against M-1-1.5 and is more agile & monuverable , Though both of them uses the same Band namely K-Ka for guidance , DRDO is developing a VLS system , A phased array antenna , currently it is using a conventional rotating antenna , and also trying to increase its range to 15km ofcourse I am talking about Improved version of the system , The system in its present form server the purpose well for all the three services

I can agree with the hypothetical threat argument-the F/A-22, EF-2000, and Rafale were all designed to challenge advanced Su-35s and MFIs…and as of last count there were none of either in service with Russia

Actually the USAF is drawing down if you look closely. Older aircraft are going to be replaced with smaller numbers of newer aircraft (of course, that has more to do with money than anything else, really).

As for why the US needs such a large Air Force? Easy, we tend to stick our nose in everybody’s business. Not saying I agree with everything we do (especially since it means I have to travel halfway around the world to some remote inhospitable climate ), but if you’re going to go that route, you need the military to be able to back it up.

well yeah, first one might be correct but i don think its gonna hold for long .. not coz the soviets are coming back, but the a/c as such will be rivalling for market shares and French have been working pretty hard to find even one customer for Rafale …and hardly many know that Russia is on recovery and their economy grew at 6.6 % (i don really wonder as to Y no western media report these, is russia not a part of Europe?, but then …. ) and I feel pity for what the rest of the world quotes from the Russia bashing western media abt the state of afairs that Russia is in rather than to have an independent analysis and report …..

yeah i know US is downsizing and its coz of funds rather than anything else, but not drawing down enough to set to rest that US has no hidden agenda (American Century) which has been allwyas associated with US govt policies … and the first step to assurance has to be by scrapping the NATO – it was meant to counter the Soviet threat, now as there is no Soviet there is no need , and in turn a European Defence force wud be fine as the France is saying … but then there is this $hity Govt policy which will make sure that NATO is not disbanded ..

well SOC , where u work, posting??… I heard ur in USAF , but what unit … if u don mind replying – go ahead, if not i don mind .. and one thing that ur avatar – that N-explosion or MOAB (?) just don feel good to me (but then its ur liberty to choose what u want, and i can’t argue abt that) …. I’ve seen no one using those til now (or maybe I missed), fighters bombers etc are fine, but the N- thing is a different matter…. what that reminds me is of those bloody $astards who bombed Japan for testing their new weapon and then citing in the succeding yrs as to how that bombing made the war end…. I call it damn BS… any way Japan wud have surrendered, coz little was left to hold on … but then histroy that world now sees and read is all scripted by the Aliied forces …. and thats a real pity ….
