Here’s the old girl at Biggin in the 70’s.
So what’s new? Obviously the paint job but the cabin looks the same.

Wow! Those hangers are awesome. And the blimp looks good too. I remember well when the original Goodyear airship came to Biggin Hill in the 70’s.

Nice looking copter though.
and there was me thinking these would be shots of a new James Bond film 😀
Our friend ‘spitfireman’ says on “Biggin Hill Airshow” (in the Airshow Photos forum) ‘Definately last year, my Spitfire is there, alongside TFH Hurricane just north of the VC10, behind the crowd line.’

Oh yes, well spotted.
As I live nearby I looked to see if they have updated my photo too but they haven’t. On closer inspection I see they have only updated the airfield site. If you look at the shadows on the airfield the sun is pretty well due south but look at the tree next to the Main Road at the southern end of the runway the shadow cast is from a sun in the east.
And when are they going to update the 1945 maps to show the village?
Tony
PS. It’s interesting seeing what types of aircraft are there. 🙂
Darn it!! You beat me to it Warbert. But I was going to ask why there are only 8 reds landing? There is another by the hanger where the VC10 is but don’t they normally send 10 to displays? Or wasn’t there one year when they only had 8 displaying as a result of an accident?

Very nice model. When I first saw it I thought it was a die cast model.
Get well soon Spitfireman.
I’m following too. Thanks Teej.
By the way, my Biggin Hill History website is also on Twitter if you want to follow me. http://twitter.com/#!/TonyatBiggin 🙂
Following on from what ‘Ewan Hoozarmy’ and ‘PeeDee’ have said about satellite picture distortion, if you digitally ‘squish’ the photo from left to right you get this image.

Agreed about the Ercoupe. Here’s a close up.

Well i’ve Googled ‘Eurocoup’ and ‘Erco Ercoupe’ and the results show the same plane but I don’t think it’s one of those. Anyone else have any ideas?
School of Artillery Manorbier (South Wales)
Following on from my previous post (which didn’t do too well it has to be said ) i have now found out that the School of Anti-Aircraft defence moved to Manorbier in Pembrokeshire ay the outbreak of WW2.
So I thought I’d update this thread and ask if anyone can point me in the direction of and ‘expert’ on this subject (as there seems to be an ‘expert’ on virtually all aspects of…… well just about anything really).
