Too true. I have taken many pictures of Biggin and you get the correct position and then when you look at the two pics together they are different. The problem is I only have a fixed focal length lens camera. I must invest in one with a zoom.
Hey, these are good pictures. They had to be taken from EXACTLY the same spot for them to work. Perhaps I should look again at how I produce my photos on my website http://www.bigginhill-history.co.uk.
Thanks for the original post Moggy C

Cheers for the link to the photos Baz. They’re just what the doctor ordered.

Yes, i’ve seen it in that and ‘Primeval’. I think there’s a Dakota there too.
McKinstry also did a very good job with his Lancaster book. He’s not a specialist aviation writer but he’s managed to find a fresh approach to familiar subjects – I’m looking forward to seeing his take on the Hurricane story.
I think i’ll get the book anyway.

Mark Hanna’s Hunter landing in full.
As promised. Mark Hanna’s landing in full.

Hey, I was just about to show that link too. It’s on my youtube page. I’ll see if I have got the landing and post that too.
Tony.
It’s called ‘The Victor of the Battle of Britain’?
Cut and paste the co-ordinates into google maps.

Cheers.
Thanks. I saw the earlier post and thought they were serial numbers. DOH!!
I don’t have my copy yet. Is there a link to this satellite image somewhere on the net?
Don’t thank me Tony, you are half correct actually.:o
The 72 (R) sqn Tucanos represent one 66 sqn and one 92 sqn Spitfire, but the BoB pilots (Robert Oxspring & Charles Kingcombe) they are commemorating both went on to command 72 sqn.
I’m guessing the 72 sqn Tucanos were the most suitable aircraft to do it with, but seems odd that at least one of them wasn’t painted up to represent one of their own Spits!?
Well, thank you anyway.
For those of you, like me, who didn’t know this about the 72 sqdn Tucanos, check out this web page http://www.globalaviationresource.com/reports/2010/2010tucanodisplay.php.
Tony
…however 72 (Reserve) sqn fly this pair of Tucanos in a camoflage scheme to commemorate its pilots that flew Spitfres in these markings during the BoB!
Many thanks. 😀
Surely if those offering you the job want you to have a degree…..then you need a degree! 😉
Also, if you are serious about going after these jobs in ‘education/research’ you will need to get your spelling and punctuation right; I know it’s only an internet forum but it is far easier to get into the habit of getting it right, than to try and get it right only when it matters!
Good luck with your career and I hope you do find something that you enjoy doing. 🙂
(P.S. A small prize will be given to anybody spotting a spelling or punctuation mistake in my post…..if I’ve made one! :o)
Is it the semi colon after ‘punctuation right’?

Just a quickie.
Forgive my ignorance but what is the connection between this plane and 92 Squadron?
