What I like in particular about a lot of these shots is you can see the ground, and also see that it is Biggin Hill. I love looking at photos on this site and the quality of most is stunning but a close up picture of a plane at Biggin, with no other point of reference, could be anywhere in the UK, or the world for that matter.
Having said that I am really envious of you guys as I don’t have the time, equipment nor skill to take the kind of photos you all do.
Keep up the great work everyone.
Tony.
very very nice!
It’s something i think every time i watch Battle of Britain. Just how loud were they?
helicopter blades
Yes, but which?

I’m setting up my replica in Bromley town centre Friday, my Cam is dreadfully wrong as I haven’t removed it after recent filmwork!
come and say hello
Baz
Sorry I couldn’t make Bromley but we have a little place in Cornwall so we’ll come and find you next time we’re down there. Did you have any pics from your visit to Bromley?
Tony
Indeed, although the statement “nobody that works here has any interest in aviation” is telling.
It tells me that these guys know how to create fantastic looking replicas even though they have no aviation knowledge.
Mind you. With that in mind and with what we know now, with the help of you forum guys (and knowing that the mould is for a Spitfire MkIX so we can’t change that) if Stuart and his team have any queiries they’ll know where to come for advice. 😀
Tony.

Hi,
The rear end of the Hurricane looks pretty close to the road, how long do you think it will be before it is put into a flat spin by a passing lorry?:D
-John
The main road is on the other side of the blue railings. The planes face the road. If you have Google Earth, you can see how they are orientated.
Tony
I have been persuaded by Seafuryfan’s comments to look at these again and I too have found a gem of a pic. It’s the last of the Sally B pics and it looks like an air to air photo. Well done. Keep snapping.
Really like the first Red Arrows shot. Brilliant timing. Well done.
Perhaps someone should put a Stuka ‘siren’ on a modern plane and put it into a dive so we could hear would it would have sounded like?
Tony
A reply from the plane manufacturers.
I have recieved an email from Stuart Bailey, from GB Repiclas, the company that make these replicas. I think it only fair for me to publish his email (he gave me his permission by the way) so he can put his side of the story.
We are purely a glassfibre moulding business, the replicas are only a
small part, and we certainly cannot rely on them alone to give us an all
round income, nobody who works here has any interest in aviation, we
have to rely on what we are asked to produce by the customer.
Regarding the massive c**k up on the Spitfire wings…no excuse, cannot
for the life of me explain apart from the fact that the Hurricane
fuselage was painted along with the Spitfire wings and vice versa, this
was purely due to the fact that we were stowed up at work and working
around the clock to fit everything in. We have never painted an
aircraft with the wings on, and you should have seen the horror on my
face as I realised when she was being unloaded.
Finally, our Spitfire moulds are for a MK IX. We do our best to
produce other marques, according to the budget available, so there will
always be discrepancies in wing panels, the elevators as mentioned, the
blades and so on.
I should not have looked at all the comments on the forum, but the poor old
fellows at the Chapel were gutted to realise that all this had been
basically written overnight.
We will be respraying the wings and any other small detail that needs to
be rectified (Hurricane wing roundels not included, more info, ask
Chippy Woods) as soon as possible before the big day. It would not
have been economical to have taken them back to Norfolk to put right as
the mistake was only noticed at Biggin Hill.
Stuart Bailey.

Great photos as usual Gary. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Tony
I couldn’t get to the show this year but living a mile away I got to see quite a bit. But the highlight for me was, not the Typhoon, not the VC10 (which i don’t remember seeing at Biggin before), but when the 4 Spits and 4 Hurricanes flew directly over my house. Twice, On BOTH days. Why does something like that bring tears to my eyes?
Tony
What is it a close up of? I guess a helicopter of some kind.
