So our pictures must have been after June ’72.
That seems about right. I remember we lived at West Wickham and it flew over our house heading for Biggin. It was a warm evening and Dad drove me to the airfield. Hence the photo.
The article was very interesting but shame it crashed.

Goodyear blimp
Here’s a slide my dad took of the Goodyear blimp when we went to see as it visited Biggin Hill airfield. It’s in a box dated 1971/2. I’m sure someone could pin it down to an exact date.

Does this blimp still exist?

There’s a clip on youtube, also a link in ‘Forum theatre’ here, which shows spits and mosquitos and the feeling is it’s all CG.

If you can do that kind of realism then they could do a brilliant version on the Dambusters without have to use the real things, except for the groud shots of course.

Well what can I say? You guys have come up trumps again. I wasn’t expecting so much info back from my original question. Thanks guys. 🙂
Off now to edit more photos!
You must have thousands of photos? Wonderful stuff. Keep them coming.
You can tell it’s not a real Airfix. There’s no glue smudges on the canopy.
🙂
Looking forward to seeing them.
Nice to see the lovely Buc. And a Fiat X19 in there too.
Really interesting pictures. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the link. I now don’t think it’s them. Although ‘Offshore’ is brilliant, used loads of times on TV as background music.

Sounds a bit like them i agree. Can anyone else put the meat on the bones?
