Thanks for the update guys.
It must be 10 yrs or more since I was last down that way.
I considered the car park at Hatton Cross tube, but was unsure whether it was for tube passengers only (didn’t want to get clamped 😮 )
All the perimeter road is NO Parking.
Cloud 9.
If by “Current Situation” you mean the security threat, it seems a little strange that you’re allowed to stand in the tube station car park. I would have thought that it would be a greater threat of attack from the ground to approaching aircraft from this point. The centre of the airport, namely Queens Building, I would have thought would have been more secure, in light of all the Armed “Feds” that were around.
Still, such is life.
Shame though, because from the perimeter you miss so much. 🙁
Just stumbled across this thread.

It looks brillaint Can’t wait for the Virgins colours.
Maybe this will do until the “Real” thing comes out.

I dunno if Erlandis is a member of this forum.
Or if any members here are members of POSKYS forum.
But I thought I’d better draw your attention to this thread…

Failing that there are some seaplane bases available, I believe you can find one in Seattle.
Also, many seaplane bases in New York. 🙂
I used to run Fs9 on a 128MB GeForce FX5200, and I found it reasonably acceptable. 🙂
It would give frame rates of around the 15-20 fps, as stated, with the details set to medium(ish).
I should say your card is perfectly capable of running Fs9 at an adequate quality and speed.
But I “Splashed-Out” and brought a 256MB GeForce 6800GS Ultra PCI-e.
Man she really flies now, and looks stunning.
The display settings are set as high as they can go, and I get frame rates around the 30fps mark now.
3 Ghz Processor.
1 GB Ram.
256Mb GeForce 6800 GS Ultra.
Any of the Project Open Sky aircraft really…
Mine was/is an nvidia card, but like I said in another thread, I can’t use the bloody thing because I don’t have an AGP slot to put it in.. grr.. 😡
My old PC didn’t even have an AGP slot, but it did have older PCI slots (NOT PCI-Express).
I brought a Nvidia FX 5200 128MB PCI card for about £50. You can get them even cheaper now.
This was a brilliant card for the money, and returned constant frame rates in the lower 20’s.
🙂
Failing that, uninstall the two add-ons – traffic and a340. Failing that, uninstall and reinstall fs9.
Yep, and next time try and install it while your not doing anything else.
My god, look at the task bar and tray… 😮
You are on MSN to Hannah?, playing music on Media Player, surfing the Aviation forum, AND downloading form Bearshare (Naughty Naughty… 😀 )
A good vantage point for you photogs is on the cliffs at the Kirkley end of Pakefield Cliffs, bring back some good ‘uns. 😀
This will be the place to be, as the whole airshow has been “Moved-Along” slightly this year.
This is due to the newly erected 100 “odd” mtr high wind turbine at Ness Point interfering with the flying line. 😮
Thanks for the replies guys.
I have experimented with most of your suggestions. Originally thought problem was the “Different” screen resolutions between desktop and FS9, so made sure that both were set the same (Currently 800 x 600 32 bit). Have also experimented with the monitor refresh rates (Currently 60 Hz).
Bruce I suspect you are probably correct when you say my system is at the “Lower” end of the spec for FS9. (1.8Ghz, 512MB, 128MB FX5200 PCI). Originally it wasn’t purchased with FS in mind, so I shouldn’t really complain. The fact that it runs at a reasonable speed at all, is a bonus I s’posse.
Like I said, it runs perfectly OK, once it has “Settled”. Incidentally, I didn’t have the problem with the “OnBoard” video, it’s only since I installed the Nvidia card  And FS is the ONLY application I have that does it. I can run “Brothers in Arms – Road to Hill 30” OK, and that’s a very “graphics hungry” program.
Once again, Thanks for your suggestions.
Mark.
I may be wrong, but wasn’t the “Dear Old” HS Trident the first aircraft that was able to deploy reverse thrusters whilst still in flight?
I’m sure I’ve heard this somewhere.
Ohhh… For the “Good Old Days”, where there were excellent views across the whole airport from the South Terminal Spectator area. Now they’ve built that bleedin’ great extension. 🙁
Where is South Norfolk then ??
Given the fact that the aircraft was moving around the sky I was unable to record its exact lat/long for the nitpickers,
For the record my current BT phone book covers Lowestoft and South Norfolk ,the aircraft was flying within the area covered by the map in the phone book.So it is SOUTH NORFOLK as far as I am concerned !!
Who really cares apart from the pilot, South Norfolk North Suffolk could be either in minutes,Steve
Steve, Sorry but I must agree with AF.
The area roughly halfway between Gt Yarmouth and Norwich (Most likely Acle area), is classed as “East Norfolk”. South Norfolk being around the Diss area.
There has been quite a bit of activity around GY(ish) in the last couple of days. Thursday morning there were a couple of F15’s, which are fairly rare in these parts of late.
