I guess I should buy LM stocks.

The important part: Japan would be willing to pay $300 million each for a fleet of 100.

And the problem is that a Japanese Airman would be willing to pass on F-22 data for free if his Sempai (social superior) asked…

    Folks,

If we are going to discuss this, I thought some members would find info on the original COIN contest that the US Navy had in 1964. The pages below are from FLYING REVIEW INTERNATIONAL in 1964 (FRI eventually after many changes, stop prints, new owners, etc. became AIR INTERNATIONAL). You will be able to see the loosing candidates.

    Thanks for the info!

The Convair submission there actually seeing the light of day as the Model 48 Charger.

What are the odds Japan will go for EF Typhoon ?
It should be a close enough match when defending against cruise missiles over home turf, which i assume they are looking for.

Well, if the Japanese aircraft magazines are anything to go by Typhoon is joint 2nd place with the F-35.

1st place is, of course, the F-22.

Japan will only get the F-22 if they can prove they can keep the secret stuff ‘secret’, like they didn’t with Top Secret AEGIS files…
