There are many aircraft at the dissused airfield to the north east of the city centre but quite close to the city.
Easy to find on Google Earth.

Quote: On the downside, completed some coursework last night about low cost carrier safety, and this has screwed up my statistics!
Aviation should not be your subject with such crass statements.
The pilots did a magnificant job and saved many lives after hitting what seems to be a huge flock of birds.Double engine ingestion and what appears to be an aborted go-around. The hard landing resulting in landing gear damage. The pilots must have been of the highest calibre to make such a split second decision.
What has this to do with low cost?Maybe you will become a journo.
The aircraft is not damaged by the over-run and can fly. The Daily Mail is reporting it as a crash but have refrained from calling it a jumbo.
It seems AA may be also gaining winglets.
There was another fantastic journo report in the one tabloid regarding the 2 low life females drunk on the XL flight.
It reported scare on Jumbo jet and showed a photo of what appeared to be an Embraer 195 in XL colours.
(The problem with GIB is,under certain conditions you get a tail wind in both directions at the same time.
Oh yes? Where did you acquire that information? )
I read it in a book about about the history of Gibraltar and the airfield.
I guess it must have have been false information then.

The problem may not only be the pilots English.
But London English.
I was speaking to 2 Polish students a few weeks ago.
Their English was really very good.
They achieved very high grades and had looked forward to their first trip to the UK.They told me they had arrived in London and could hardly wait to get out and about and chat.To their complete shock, they could not understand a word.I told them this is common in the UK.
I listen to many regional accents and sometimes have to listen for several minutes to tune in. Sometimes I cannot understand hardly anything.
I would also add this applies to the USA.
In some parts of the world,I imagine a few tubby flight attendents are not the real problem. Its the 100 or so extra tons at the back with the coke & burger processors wedged into their seats.
Yes you are right Grey Area.I should have checked.
I am looking at a very poor quality field length chart for all types using comparitive parrameters.
It is very difficult to read when I zoom in to the numbers.
So squinting at the chart again, A300-600,A310-300,777-200,767-200.
All seem to be similar.
I am sure EA mentioned the A330 when speaking to Airbus but this was about 8 years ago so maybe the plans were changed.
I have quoted this statement many times.
I was once went to a presentation at LBA .
The subject of PIA flights were mentioned.
Ed Anderson said the airport had consulted with Airbus who confirmed the the A330 would be able to reach Pakistan direct from LBA’s runways.
With what loads I dont know.
The Shaheen A310-300 has similar field performance to the A330-600 and the 777-200 I understand.
There is a rooftop terrace in the old part of the terminal building.
It was close to the domestic entrance so looking from the front of the building to the left side.
Also you may be able to see some interesting government Yak’s and Tuppy’s if you go to the right side of the building and look over the wall.
If you want a beer,go across the street to the Courtyard Marriott, much better than the airport.

I saw a Jet2 737 parked up in Krakow on Tuesday.
Already forgot the reg but everyhing closed up like it was not going anywhere.
I was late for my flight so no time to check but I thought I saw an LS flight code on the screen showing Cardiff. Can anyone enlighten me?
