But Grey Area, what about the hundreds of offs instead of of. And the worst,
there, instead of their. The grammar on one particular spotters site is embarrassing.Nobody points it out so we have more and more primitive postings.Foreigners spell better than the natives.
    Is natives correct?

Frequent flyer programmes are not as good as they used to be.
Do they generate loyalty? I think they do.
I used to have a BA gold card 15 years ago and I felt I was treated like someone special.
I changed to KLM because BA are not interested in flights outside fortress Heathrow, so KLM and Schipol are much better with connections from most UK airports.
KLM obviously thought loyalty programmes were very important.
The result was, it became too easy to have a card for lounge access.
It became ridiculas. The KLM lounges at Schipol had elite? travellers packed in like sardines. It became more elitest not to uses the lounges.
I have a Patinum card for life, so no need to rack up the points but airmiles are nice to collect.
I still use KLM when possible, I like them. I dont like KLM UK Cityhopper.
They are not so professional as mainline.
Your chances of a free upgrade, absolute zero.
    To them pax are pax.
In my view the biggest plus for being a card holder, is priority check-in.
I think though that generally because fares are very low, probably on a par with locos in most cases. For this reason, you no longer have the luxury of lounge access when not flying with KLM. In the old days you did.
However,in the final analysis, I think they do bring in extra pax.
Especially for those whose fares are paid for by the taxpayer.

I must say, I really do sympathise with MP Tim Yeo for wanting to stop all UK domestic flights.
Just imagine, the poor guy was on a chinless wonders version of a pub crawl.
However, in this instance, it was a UK golf club crawl in a private jet covering 3 courses in 1 day. Probably his timings were somewhat delayed in the crowded skies with hundreds of metal tubes filled with peasants supporting the economy.
Tim, are you any way related to that other infamous MP, Alan B`Stard?

Take the comments by the MP from Rent a Plank with a pinch of salt. Can you imagine what it would do to the economy?

I never book 1 way flights except with Jet2,Czech Airlines and sometime LOT.
Cant see the probem. You are not looking for the cheapest 1 way ticket, just the cheapest ticket.
For example about 4 weeks ago I wanted to fly LBA to Moscow.
    My preference KLM.
    1 way fare – 1,081GBP, return ticket 261GBP.
So whats the problem? You just buy a return ticket.
Been doing for donkey`s years, as I imagine most people have.

The French are a law unto themselves.
If it suited them better, then Irish law would prevail.
Just ask the poor Accor Hotel group staff in Poland.
    Another French colony methinks.

I have flown long haul business class with KLM many times, probably more than 100 times. The cabin crew are amongst the best.
I always chose upper deck on the 747 but at the rear, maybe row 81.
Then you have a big wide windowcill locker to put all your bits and bobs in, briefcase etc..Nice seats, super service.
My regular routes were Hong Kong,Seoul,Kuala Lumpur, Singapore,Manilla,Tokyo,Jakarta, Sydney, Bangkok,Johannesburg.
Always the same standard of service.
I changed from BA for greater convenience so I could fly KLM all the way.
London Airways have lost the plot on this point.Besides, Schipol is much better than BA`s Fortress Heathrow.

Britannia 757`s could land at LBA with RVR 75m in the early days. And with a 3kt tailwind component. Dont know what has changed.

Sir Freddie had a lot of enemies within the big airlines like BA.
They and others were out to stop him at all costs.
On both sides of the Atlantic.
But also, the expected freedom of the skies policy never went through as expected and from memory Laker had ordered a lot of A300`s for mass cheap travel in Europe. Plus, there were big problems with the DC10 and many fleets were grounded.
He was a real pioneer in every sense of the word.
Maybe others can tell you a lot more.
There could even be some ex employees around.

What about the 767 a few years back that ran out of fuel and landed on a disused airstrip. I think it was in the USA.
