Well I think there are two main reasons for Argentina’s aversion for going Russian when it comes to fighters.
The first that Buitreaux has already alluded to is psychological, the Argentine airforce regards itself as a modern Western “NATO style” air arm. Procuring Russian (or Chinese) doesn’t fit with that picture.
NATO style? :p
Well, psychological self-deluding images doesn’t win wars. During the 1982 war they were forced to behave like suicide Japanese during WW-II. In the end, .. a country with brave pilots and fool politicians.
The second is more practical, it would involve introducing a completely different logistic and support base.
That’s a more rational one and explain the “go French” way.
There is a third option already mentioned: Go to Israel to buy a westernized Su-27MKA(rg), in a way similar to the development of Indians Su-30MKI. I know, it is unlikely. 😎
AFAIK, Medvedev talked some days ago about the need to cut the brain-drain and about a program to help retaining scientist and engineers. There were just words from a politician or there is a concrete program about it?
Does Pampa use British engines?
If that’s true, the UK will have a de facto rule on the age and wealth of the Pampa fleet.
I can’t understand the Argentine phobia to Russian fighters, because that phobia gives U.K a big influence-power on the composition and quality of the Argentine Air Force. Both the U.S and France will be much more sensitive to the British interests than to the Argentine needs to re-equip their Air Force. This, in turn assures the loss of relevance of the Arg Air Force in the South America geopolitical scenario.
O.K let us concede the PAK-FA is Flankerized. So what? There is something bad on this? Sukhoi selected that configuration for some reason.
I’m afraid, I introduced an off-topic here. 😮 Your answer is a rational one, TR1, but the rabid Russo phobia come from the people on the western part of that country, the self called “westerners” Russian haters. You know, people East Dnieper think just the opposite way. Anyway what I mean was just in case all plants in Russia become saturated and if Ukrainian is interested in some refurbishment contracts.
I just will read your answer and end the off-topic here, in order to not divert the focus of the thread.
The idea of a Sukhoi plant abroad is good. I.e. in Ukraine, in order to cement the -Russian brotherhood. A busy plant there give money to qualified Ukrainian people and everyone will be interested in keep the company book flooded (shared interests). May be Ukraine will be interested in repairing/modernizing their Sukhois and to buy a few Su-35s. Off-course I am talking from a geopolitical point of view. No a strictly aeronautic one.
Can you insert a 9M82-like missile on a S-300P/S-400 like tube? I doubt about that.
Since anti-ICBM interceptors of the S-500 systems will have some ancestry on the 53T6 and/or 9M82 interceptors, I think at most two of them will be carried on S-400 like trucks. Just an opinion.
Draws seems to show something like a wheeled S-300V/VM system. Afterwards the video shows a sort of launching of missiles from the S-300P/S-400 family.
My opinion? A nice video from a fan-boy.
could have.
would have.
should have.
:diablo:
Is not better to deploy S-400 batteries in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad? You know, with those batteries there, the NATO “escorts” must behave very politely.
Sad new! 😡
Do you really think that Russia is even on the “target list” for the vast majority of these weapons?
Off-course Russia is on the list.
Is there even a target list any more?
Off-course there is a list. It is named warplanning or warfare scenarios.
I disagree. Look at the F-22 & F-35 combo. The thing is getting worse even for the enormous USA defense budget. Russia can’t afford such kind of mistake, nor India. Better to order more heavy fighters than trying to develop a new light one.
And afterwards, around 2025, if everything go OK, the development of a PAK-FA IB (like a 5th generation Fullback) may be a good option. Off-course maximizing commonality with the PAK-FA
Russia re-starting ABL tests. Podvig irritated.

S-400 missiles will be deployed in Belarussia:

Another request
That’s good. To control a half the polish aerospace is neccesary, …in order to refrigerate some heads . Next S-400 should go to Kaliningrad.
Ten warheads Sineva?
