The difference between Football and Rugby is….
Football is a Gentlemens’ game played by yobs.
Rugby is a yobs’ game played by Gentlemen.
That should wind a few people up!
Are they still going to move the church?
Yes runway 06 – certainly a good spot for photographs!
Do you have any other photos of Luton from around that time?
Here is my contribution but I can’t remember the year.
It’s looking good – nice photos by the way. Thanks for posting.
The 737’s were actually registered VRL, VRM and VRN.
She’s beautifull
She certainly is – a fantastic bit of workmanship!
How about tackling a Vickers Viking next in the same scale?
I was wondering if anyone could identify a Vickers Viking for me? I was looking at a head on photo (taken possibly in 1950s) of one in Rhodesia so the airline could not really be made out but from the angle I could make out the registration KN at the end, possibly JKN. However it can’t be G-AJKN (this is a Miles Gemini) so does anyone have any ideas? I have looked on the internet to see if there is a list of regs of all Vikings produced but could not find a complete one.
Could be G-AIKN which was finally owned by Continental Airways and stood engineless outside the BKS hangar at Southend for many years. I believe it was eventually scrapped in the mid-sixties!
In case any of you don’t know what an Airfix Superfreighter looks like here is one I made in the nineties when it was briefly re-released.

I still have an unmade one still in its unopened box! One of these days I shall sit down and make it!
The fact was that Wogan said what we all thought. A very clever and entertaining man! That idiot Norton is not a patch on him!

The whole thing is an absolute load of rubbish. I think we should pull out and leave it to the third world countries to battle it out to their hearts content!

Herte is a colour photo taken at Ipswich – the black and white photo was taken at Sothend when it was owned by Southend Corporation.
Here’s a photo from the Auster Club magazine showing the demise of G-AIZY.

How very sad. I did my solo X -country in IZY from Ipswich-Cambridge-Luton-Ipswich in March 1965!
