There are Stirling/Horsa shots in the Rackheath film too. I haven’t looked at Honington yet. I wonder if some of the clips got mixed up in the editing?
Fair comment. I withdraw my slightly cynical view!
Lots more by Googling, including this. As it originates from CND, it is no doubt somewhat biased.
That book was a compendium of material edited by Bruce. I confess to having written that chapter but I can’t remember where the Siddal story came from. Suffice to say that I did not make it up!

Remarkable. I recognise some of those sections from a hill near Berriedale, especially the fin.
What happened to the ditched Barra which was fished up near Hengistbury Head in 1968 and publicised in the local press. It was taken to MEXE (the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment) at Christchurch. I was at the ATC school at Hurn at the time so presented myself at the gatehouse and asked if I could see it. I was told in no uncertain terms that the place was secret and to go away! I see that the abandoned MEXE site, where the Bailey Bridge was developed amongst other devices, is currently up for sale.

I see that second hand copies of British War Production are available via Amazon. This was part of the History of the Second World War series published in the 1940s/50s. Worth getting if you haven’t seen a copy already.
I suggest also that you post a request for info on the Airfield Information Exchange forum. This is a vast subject but there is much information available and a number of helpful specialists on AIX.
Looks some pics from the RAF Museum collection in there, including aerials of Abbotsinch and Calveley.
Here’s a link to the first part of the film. I haven’t had time to look at much of it just now but from a brief close up it is either a Beaufighter or Beaufort. At the beginning, there is an excellent clip of Bostons raiding Eindhoven at ultra low level.

You’ve failed miserably, Moggy!:)
As I recall, it was a Beaufighter. Although lots of airfields were visible on the pilot’s map as very suitable waypoints , their locations and even existence were not mentioned!
So did I!
Mike is right about the area to the west of the runway at Kalathos being where aircraft were dispersed. I had a drive round there back in the 1990s and found lots of dispersal hardstandings. There are also said to be workshops dug into the steep hillside but the doors are now sealed.
It commemorates the little known experiments at West Freugh around 1944 in equipping a Skua with a scaled-down Tallboy. Haven’t heard of this? No, neither have I …
Beautifully put, AA!
