No, Gerry, sorry I wasn’t joking about it being taken from high ground! Never mind, it was an interesting exercise!

Oh dear! In defence, there is a B-24 crash site and memorial just out of the photo to the left and an Oxford crash site just out of the photo to the right. Not to mention Saunders Roe at Beaumaris in the distance. And a Botha did crash on the booking office at Blackpool Station after a collision with a Defiant …
Very plain fare, I should imagine! See here

A pretty good team effort to identify these places, I think. But Gerry should be suspended from the forum for misleading us that they were taken from aeroplanes. 😀 One from the tower and one from the high ground behind the coast here.
That looks like Dwygyfylchi (not quite as difficult to pronounce as it looks!) in the centre, with Penmaenmawr in the left distance. And as Richard says, that is Anglesey in the distance.
Presumably to keep an eye out for accidents on the aerodrome and call out the firemen? To this day, one of Air Traffic Control’s responsibilities is to provide an “alerting service”.
Sorry, temporary thread drift. You’ll find much of his story here. There is also a brief clip on YouTube of him performing in Spain.
That must have been Prince Cantacuzene in his Jungmeister. The top scoring Romanian fighter pilot in WW2 amongst other achievements. He performed at quite a few British airshows in the 1950s. I saw him at Woodvale in 1957 and have never forgotten it! I was only a kid but it was obvious that here was a master aviator.
Good to hear from you again, Jules. You are truly an esteemed member of this forum!
I’m surprised about the Stirling File going for £50 on eBay. There are a whole bunch on abebooks for £20-£30.
Yes, it was about that time. Thanks for the offer Jerry but I think it’ll turn up eventually. Get your car sorted out!
It sounds a great place! Reminds me of the Avion Club in Prague.
Jerry, I think I lent you the video and you did return it to me! It has since disappeared though but I don’t think I lent it to anyone else. As I recall, it was only a fraction of the material on YouTube but did include extra footage of 311 Sqn at Talbenny.

Milmeece, HMS Fledgling for groundcrew training, in Staffs is a possibility but I suspect it would have closed after the war. Stretton perhaps?
That will grow into a very interesting site, Ronald, keep going with it!
The cars are quite interesting too!
