That camouflage doesn’t work so good…
Flood
Flood, you’re quite right about the camo. I went there in ’03 and she was a bit rough around the edges, from sitting outside. I would reccomend that you look at the one at th SAC museum near Omaha, Nebraska as its inside the museum. On a side note Barksdale AFB is the home of the 8th Airforce, and the home of the 8th Airforce museum.

can ya’ll give me, the uneducated some information on the Blackburn Firebrand? what was the main problem with the aircraft?. Was she a handfull to fly? was the Napier a problematic engine?, if the FAA was looking for a torpedo/ ground attack plane why did they not consider the Douglas Skyraider as an alternative?
Bravo!, Bravo! 🙂
Jules I want to thank you for the tremendous amount of sacrifice that you and thousands of other young men did for the liberation of occupied Europe.
Recently I did some research on my uncle’s father, he was a waist gunner on a B-17 with the 366th Bmb Sqdn, 306th BW. He had been blown free of his airplane during a raid on Nancy, before D-DAY. I have another great uncle who flew Liberators and flew on one the first raids on Berlin. He was shot down just outside of Berlin. Now he will only tell you what happened to him but not his crew.
Sadly, my uncle’s father the waist gunner died around Christmas time, and he did write down his memoirs, and story of his time in LUFT STALAG III.
Do you keep in touch with anybody in your crew or other members from different crews?
very good selections guys, keep posting 🙂
