Lovely photos 🙂
And was such a good day 🙂 despite the cold. Thank you to everyone at EK and the display pilots 🙂
I took lots of pics too, and video, if anyone wants to see them (3 parts) they’re here
I’m sorry you’re taking flak 🙁 but in Bubbles defense we have been told that all were on side with the exception of Waddington which there is a meeting there monday or tuesday. So he was just reporting what we have been told.
Not that it really matters but I believe the Vulcan is carbon neutral :p:D
Such a forum and various threads already exists doesn’t it? Operated by the owners/operators of 558 I believe you may have to pay to join?
No-one has actually done anything about this ‘conspiracy and scandal laden thread’ have they? If it was that scandalous then surely the operators of the Vulcan would have no problems sueing those whose posts they deemed scandalous. The reverse of that is of course that the closed door policy of the operators who have done themselves no favours with publicity and promotion, only serves to feed those who sense and scent a scandal.

The “official” forum isn’t all sweetness and light either sometimes 😀 lol
Also you don’t pay to join the forum, the forum is meant to be an extra for joining the club, which is what you pay for :).
And parts are now open for non members to get a taste of what is being discussed :).
Yes it was a possibility many years ago, things have changed since then, the HLF have a stake in her, plus i’m pretty sure Smiler (fantastic update BTW :)) and the others who have worked all the hours god sends bringing her back to flight, would not be happy to see all their hard work sent off to somewhere that has neither the equiptment nor knowhow to keep her flying. That’s not to mention the supporters who have invested a great deal of money in the project to see her taken to any foreign country, where they will never see her fly, pretty much defeats any purpose in the team at Brunty getting her airworthy in the first place.
I should think if they ever did send her to the US, there would be a great many people scale the fences at Brunty and chaining them selves to her, me included.
The point is obsoleat because she is the peoples aircraft not the US’s.
As for nothing happening, have you even read about the pledge scheme, the same one that raised over a million the last time, people are freely giving what they can, so it’s not as if they don’t have support, nobody is putting a gun to my head to make me give my money, I give it willingly enough, because I would like to see her fly in 2009.
I’ve been reading this “debate” for a while now, and whilst I can’t comment on the funding issues.accounts (I don’t understand them myself, so what would be the point) I can say that I was also on the stall at the Lincoln christmas market, and the level of interest was pretty amazing to be honest, I certainly don’t agree with “The business/money raising sides would be hugely different as the main support from devoted followers is MUCH more specialist and therefore smaller for the Vulcan”, as we had people from all over the country (as well as the US), I had a young lad following me around for half and hour telling me about the Vulcan (and the red arrows), and he certainly wasn’t old enough to remember her from her VDF days, let alone vulcans in service.
I also managed to get to Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago when she landed back there, and cars were stopping to watch, I don’t think one car kept driving whilst she was in the circuit, she is an icon, and yes there probably are tens of thousands of people who don’t care, but there are also tens of thousands who do.
I also don’t agree with “The Vulcan has no such luxury. It is away from the public unless specifically organised or flying and even then fairly remote to the casual onlooker.”
Part of the HLF trems are that she has to be availible to the general public. There are hangar tours avalible (check the website for times) and the hangar is also more open and more accessible, you also get a guide now.
The problem is that Bruntingthorpe (as has been said on several threads) is full of cars, and so access is very limited to the general public, there is no access to the cold war jets and the lightnings e.t.c. If you want a tour of 558s hangar, you have to book so they know how many people are on site. They also are not allowed to let people inside her, that’s what XM602(?) is for, you get the cockpit experience from being show around that, because the CAA have said that only crew and the crewchief is allowed up there.
Part of the problem of moving her to say Waddington, is that they would have to find some way of getting public access to her, and also working the education program (which is another term). Which was why it was thought she might end up at an air port rather than an RAF base.
Please excuse my rather fruity language 😀
😮 Looks like i’m going to have to pay a visit:D:D, anyone know how long she’s staying?
******!!!! we left early becouse the chap in charge of the PA said that the fireworks had been cancelled.
John.
😮 I’m glad we couldn’t hear the PA then from where we were huddling behind the control tower.
Or if it doesn’t work
I’m afraid my camera didn’t like the dark so mine are all out of focus 🙁
Got some video of the fireworks though, but I doubt they count lol 😀
