The BBMF Spitfire/Hurricane left us at coningsby around 5:35 so thats about the right time, that was AB910 and I can’t remember which hurricane, I’ll have to check my photos lol:D
Possibly PZ865?
Damn, wish I could do Lincoln to Oxford in 20 minutes lol 😀
Well at least you had more luck than we did yesterday, we were in Rutland and decided to pass by Cottesmore on the way back to Lincoln, didn’t have time to stop, but we couldn’t see anything lol:D guess it was just bad timing lol.
Never mind, we did do a rather large de tour to Coningsby, saw the Spitfire and Hurricane go out, as well as the rather impressive show by one of the eurofighters, made the car rattle lol.
Love the fact one of the guys in the car park stood on top of his caravanette to take pics, that was really ingenious. Must get myself one.
That said, I do wonder what the CAA would say if Just Jane (or any of the other “fast taxi” airframes (at Bruntingthorpe, Southend etc) hit a bad bump, or swung slightly, during a high speed run, and there really was only one way to save the aircraft and crew, and that was a careful “once round” the circuit……
Didn’t the Lightning at duxford when she was in service go for an impromtu flight with a engineer at the controls lol, I heard a couple of people discussing it when I was at Duxford in may, although I didn’t hear all their conversation lol:D
The Red Arrows followed us up the A158 just outside Lincoln at lunch time lol I did try and tell them it was a 40mph speed limit but they didn’t listen 😉 😀 ok sorry bad attempt at a joke I know lol 😀
Yes, that’s a Vulcan, and what’s more the undercarriage is down.
Could be on approach, or flypast/display.
It’ll be going into Waddo as we live practically under the approach. thanks for the comfimation too 🙂
And I suppose the other factor is where else can you actually win a chance to have a taxi ina Lancaster Bomber?
It’s pretty unique, and that would most deffinatly have to stop is she were restored to fly.
I’d love to see her fly but I can’t see it happening in the short term to be honest. they have a great set up there, I love going to east Kirkby.

Sorry about the quality, don’t blame me I wasn’t even born when this was taken 😉 😀 it’s apparently late 70’s early 80’s although I don’t have an actual date for it, i’m even only assuming it’s a vulcan lol that’s hpw bad the photo is lol 😀
All with in half an hour of me, which one am I meant to pick 😉 😀
lol yeah, never have I been so happy to have been sick though 😀 if I had been at school I’m pretty sure I’d have missed it as I’m 90% possitive it was before 3:30, and I know for a fact my dad would have just left me at school so he could watch her lol 😀
I rememeber XH558’s last flight from Waddington when she flew over Lincoln Cathedral, she flew directly over my house, twice, amazing. I should have been at school that day but of all things I had the flu lol 😀
I’m not old enough to remember them in service though, I was born in 83 so just missed them lol
Thanks for the info 🙂 Appreciated:)
It now all makes sense as it was Sqn Ldr Al Pinner who went up in her 🙂
Not technically spotted as I was out and about when we saw it, but a Harvard was out side the BBMF hanger at Coningsby this afternoon, took one of the spitfire pilots for a ride (luckey b***** lol), my book says it’s from Duxford if anyone can confirm or deny that for me lol:D for some reason I can’t find anything on it on google lol.
And also saw the filming for top gear, Bugatti Veyron raced a eurofighter, very cool, no prizes for guessing who won that though lol
Ahhhh now that would explain why she wasn’t put in the hanger, we left just after 5 and she was still outside, we did wonder if she was off out again.
I love that advert! if channel four decide to drag up those silly 100 greatest programs surley this is potentially good enough to knock the annoying guinness advert off the #1 spot lol:D
Well it wasn’t the BBMF Lancaster as she landed back at Coningsby at 16:45, at least thats what my camera says 😀 lol so I don’t know what it was 🙂 sorry. (Wasn’t the Dakota either as she landed just behind the Lanc lol)
