Yes that looks like them, only they have had their wings taken off 🙁 poor things, they look at bit like ticks on google earth lol
From Google earth, Davis Monthan AFB, just enormous 😮

I’ve been meaning to ask what are the round-ish aircraft?
I whole heartedly agree with you Lindy, we went for cold war jet day (I think it was) back in May( ) and it was chucking it down with rain, horrible weather but they still did some fast runs and noone left to get shelter, even my mum (who hates getting wet) stayed to watch, sadly my camera didn’t make it lol it didn’t like the rain, never was the same after, I have a new water proof one now lol 😀 :diablo:
I litterally only took 6 photos lol and of those these were the best of a bad lot lol:D

I don’t mind paying extra either to be honest, especially as waddingtons goes towards the RAFBF, when the sunday was cancled this year we decided that we didn’t need a refund on the tickets we bought in advance, it’s a good cause and they can keep it, we still got to see a few things form our house lol, and we heard the explosions from the other side of Lincoln 😀 .
We will deffinatly be pre ordering for the 2008 show as my mum is obsessed with the Vulcan, so I don’t even get a choice next year lol:D .
“I wonder how many here can actually recall the original name of the field, and how long it has been in operation both under that name and the now RAF Scampton.”
ooooo pick me pick me, I know 😀 lol
We have Part one, went back last sunday to the vulcan tent at Duxford to get part two for my mum for christmas and the damn things were sold out lol 😀 Couldn’t believe it, I knew I should have bought it the first time I went when there was a pile of them lol
I’ve been lead to believe that she is staying ay Bruntingthorpe for good as this is the only place that the CAA will allow her to operate from. May be wrong but that was the view I got???
That’s what I thought too
Yes, it did a wonderful display the day we went.
Oh look they’re trying to load a Spit into a Lanc for air drop tests:)
lol now would that be considered a WMD 😀 lol
😮 Well I never thought there would be any possibility of her moving.
if she comes up here can’t say i’d mind though lol 😉 😀
I always thought she was only allowed to operate out of Brunty?
If you find out let us know:D 😀 😀
I agree, especially if it’s extras at Scampton, only two minutes up the road for me 😉 😀 lol
Great shots John, get up to East Kirkby myself once a year. NX611 was in the hanger when I went this year but the husband of the couple running the B&B I stay at in the village of Martin took me to the remains of the Metheringham airfield ex-106 Squadron where we drove up the what’s left of the runway, no gates the locals use it as a short cut now and again. The control tower is still there but pretty derelict now. There is a small museum nearby open wednesdays in a former grain store and a hall next to it where he also took me to the local aviation enthusiasts night where a chap from Marshalls of Cambridge gave a talk, very interesting stuff, particuarly as they are the design authority for XH558’s restoration to flight!
I’ve always loved the fact that the road was the runway, I always get a tingle when we drive down it. Had fish and chips on it a number of times too lol, but we always take our rubbish home, I hate seeing people dumpin rubbish there 😡 especially the road closer to Martin, seen TV’s and alsort there, makes me mad as Hell. You also get burnt out cars and people on those mini motos.
RAF Fiskerton is another that you literally drive through the RAF base, although there is even less there, whats lft is now some kind of bunker/business, never have worked out what it is :D. We once got told off by a local farmer for being where we shouldn’t have been 😀
There used to be a big bonfire night event there, but I dunno if the council put a stop to it, or the land changed hands, or the oil company didn’t want it as there hasn’t been one for about 12 years now. We used to go every year.
I’m sorry I digress 😀 lol
Great Pics BTW, I see you had a nice day for it 🙂
We were there in April and again in September I do love east Kirkby.

Will Guy Gibson have a dog in this movie?
Lets not go there 😀 lol
Hopefully yes, with the correct name 🙂
Look North had it on right at the end, as did Calendar.
Was annoyed I missed the sky news at half 12 🙁 my internet died on me, stupid orange 😡 and I was faffing around in the other room so I missed it lol:D
