If the MiG-29SMT is any measure the fuel load of the SMT is 4775 kg vs 3190 kg on the A.
The real culprit is Germany with 300.000 men under arms it is barely capable of sustaining 3500 men in Afghanistan. I wonder who the enemy for Germany is, Poland, Denmark, France or the good old UK.
It’s actually much less these days and the number of soldiers in the German military is constantly shrinking as is the budget. The Military has seen continues cuts at a large pace since 1990. The number of fast jets alone has reduced from some 700+ aircraft in 1990 to just about 300 these days and the number is further declining just to mention an example.
The F119 exact thrust is not released but the engine´s maximum thrust is really around 170 KN. So by that logic it should also have an “odd” thrust ratio.:confused:
The figures are only aproximations or guesses, so you cannot make that conclusions. Same applies to the russian engines.
There is no real prove for the higher than 156 kN claim up to date. And Paul Metz’s claim of a 1.1:1 TWR matches this thrust number and available weight/fuel load figures to begin with. Unless there is some more robust evidence about higher thrust ratings for the F119 I wouldn’t count on some fantasy claims.

The F119 for example provides around 110 kN of dry thrust and 156 kN of afterburning thrust. 107 kN/176 kN for the 2nd stage engine sound somewhat odd. At least modern western military jet engines offer around 50% more afterburning thrust than dry thrust in this case reheat thrust would be 68% greater than dry thrust which is a somewhat unusual ratio.

The other thing that did wander through my mind was whether this would generate an UOR for Brimstone and / or PW4 integration on the Typhoon?
PW IV integration is underway and it will be available in the not to distant future with block 10 aircraft. Brimstone is yet another question. As long as there aren’t that many pilots trained in the AG role and as long as the Tornados are performing these roles using these weapons the urgency is limited.
In this report from the first strike on April 12, the pilot claims
“…only this time I was even more relieved to see the bomb go exactly where it should have done, in the Litening III image displayed in my cockpit…“
So either the LDP was used in that mission or there is a capability to transmit the LDP imagery from the Tornado to the Typhoon.

There are never much information out there about such things. That’s why all these discussions are highly speculative only. No one can really say whether EWS XY will be capable to deal with this or that threat. There is also this widespread mis-perception that non VLO aircraft won’t be able to deal with advanced SAM systems. That’s merely a mere spread by the stealth mafia.
Looks more like one of the Neuron concepts to me.
I’m certain we’ll see some images sooner or latter. I personally expect that the aircraft will be fitted with two to four EPW II, two ETs, one LDP and possibly 6 AAMs.

at high speeds there is sufficient lift at lower altitudes as lift increases with speed. On aerodynamic grounds virtually all modern combat aircraft are capable of pulling more than 9 g, but they are g-restricted by the FCS for structural reasons. Most modern fighters have subsequently more lift at their disposal than required most of the time and can sustain 9 g for an “eternity” if there wouldn’t be the human factor and of course fuel. The turning ability is subsequently equal, actually one of the reasons why the F-35 is claimed to be “similar” to the F-16 and F-22 in that region, which is often mistaken for something else ;). At high speeds aircraft also pull high g with much less AoA so that the AoA induced drag becomes somewhat neglect-able. The story changes at higher altitudes and supersonic speeds. High altitudes case a dump of lift as the thin air has to carry the weight and lift once again is highly important as is engine thrust. Typhoon’s engines are very powerful and efficient at high altitudes and supersonic speeds translating into an excellent sustained turn performance in such conditions. It is difficult to say how well the Rafale will perform, it’s aerodynamics are good, but engines might be a somewhat limiting factor. Without appropriate data its impossible to say how well both aircraft compare to each other in that region.
