if your keeping it flying, paint it any *********g colour you like!!!!!
Sits back and waits for the backlash!!
Of course I WILL paint it any way I like, yellow polka dots and everything. If someone is going to ask me about the paint, I have the answer already. Where was your money spent on this aircraft?
Well said, my sentiments entirely
Maybe some people saw the post about repainting it and the Air America scheme as a cue to express their opinion. Personally I don’t care what scheme it, or any other aircraft are in so long as they fly and people get enjoyment from them.
You are, of course, completely correct. It just niggles that after spending lots on a rebuild, especially if you stretch to afford it some tend to criticise. I would have more time for them if they offered to get their hands dirty or dig in their pockets to help out.
The latest Beech is a case in point, the owner goes to the expense and trouble to fly the Atlantic which gives us all the chance to see it next summer. As far as I’m concerned he can paint it with polka dots, he’s earned the right.
what colour scheme is yours
ours is quite well researched you know…………..i am sure some may find fault but i have to stand behind the fact that if you build it you can paint it whatever colour you like.
we are there building it in snow storms, rain, wind, 30 degree C heat, and i will paint it whatever colour takes my fancy……ok
Spot on Phil, makes you want to say **** everyone and not bother taking it to shows doesn’t it?
How about instructors pointing it out during the two yearly flight for revalidation.
Thought the CAA were very clear on it not being used for air to air chat.
Is that a very short, very narrow cross runway?
Moggy
Has been used as such, but mainly taxiway to the hangar.
BTW nothing moving on the Rub……we are gonna take the wings off and put her back under our car port hanger
seriously, the wings are gonna come off…………can’t work on her out on the field……since we were turfed out of “that building” we have been kinda screwed.
Our Thanks go to all involved in that one.
Ah s#@* Phil, that’s real bad news, was hoping to get an invite to her first flight next year. We can store the wings under cover if that’s any help.
What a particularly flippant and offensive statement to make.
Oh I dunno, everyone knows that the machine is actually alive and is a pscychotic killer.
Don’t let them get to you, personally I can’t think of a better memorial.
The attitude of some of the photographers on the tank bank got my back up, Ok, I did not expect to be able to stretch out in my new chair and happily survey the view, but I had my trusty old video camera and was choosing my shots with care, I did not have a mile long white telephoto lens, this seemed to be the passport to push, shove and stand in front of me at every opportunity, the particular fat little turd who was doing this, amongst others, fortunately caught my eye before the lens was shoved up his backside,
Well said, seems to me that some people will do anything to get an unobstructed view. My pet hate is the people who set up windbreaks 10 feet long right on the crowd line to deter others from standing near them, or step ladders right at the front. After paying for the family to get in its a bit annoying to have to move around reguarly so a five year old can see after yet another step ladder arrives in front.
Bl**dy good show though!
Technically speaking, anyone who controls a flying machine is classed as a pilot. This also counts for model aircraft which are classed as “small aircraft” by the Civil Aviation Authority in their booklet “CAP 658 Model Aircraft – A Guide to Safe Flying”. This means that aeromodellers are ‘pilots’.
Oops, sorry, I meant as in the pilot being radio controlled.
Do you have a CAA licence then? I merely ask out of ignorance of the complex rules governing piloting heavier than air machines.
So, that time I told those chicks in the local that I was a pilot (when I still flew R/C models), I wasn’t talking a load of arse then??
Nope sorry, you were actually 😀
I am a Radio Controlled Spitfire Pilot and am still very fond of Airfix model kits and I do not believe that they are just for kids. I also enjoy building model railways. How about you?
😮 I’ve seen radio controlled cars, I’ve seen radio controlled aircraft but I’ve never seen a radio controlled Spitfire pilot!
Anyway back to TT’s obsession with Will Young………..
Having spent 20 minutes scratching himself and staring vacantly into nothing, Snapper read a serious question and exclaimed,
I wouldn’t worry too much about the Britannia, it’s a bus. It has no place at Duxford. It’s just somewhere for the birds to nest and it provides shelter during the rain. As soon as that and Concorde rot to nothing it’ll be ok. RE: the Victo, as it has no guns it also is not worth worrying about greatly – they only keep it as the paint scheme matches that of some of the buildings.
12 flew as a formation generally but each squadron would have more aircraft to allow for maintenance etc. Total establishment was about 18 aircraft I think I’ve read somewhere but am probably wrong.
That is exactly what the Planners of this play on.
And untill people vote with there feet you probably will end up paying double.
Problem is, from what I can make out, is that most of the people moaning go anyway. If people feel that strongly why go? Maybe its because sights like that are (mostly) unique to Duxford as most of the smaller shows can’t/won’t afford the fees for the display aircraft. IWM will probably continue to charge the same amount or more because they can and the sad fact is that only about 10% of the crowd are made up of enthusiats who go to multiple shows a year and I guess the other 90% will pay. With that in mind I’m happy to pay to see 11 Spitifres in formation because I’m unlikely to see them elsewhere. Plus if I manage to fly in £23 is the least of my expenses.
I intend to go tomorrow, fly in if the weathers good enough, if not I’ll drive for three hours. Personally I’d pay double to see that Spitfire flypast and box 4 of Hurricanes. I just think myself lucky that I live in a country where I can see that sort of thing and I don’t intend to take it for granted.
Agree the foods like cat food though.
