Awesome TT, wish I could have been there but had to go to London for the day. Look forward to seeing three T6’s out there soon…….
[QUOTE=SR71Habu183]I’ve found it best to avoid leaving too quickly after the display has finished. On Sunday, you’ll have the London flypast return to DX (or maybe they’ll head home to their individual bases…?)[QUOTE]
According to AIC47/2005 the London flypast contingent is leaving Duxford starting at 15:20 UTC as a section of 5 aircraft and then 4 further sections. It further states that after the flypast they will split into three sections and formation aircraft not landing at Duxford will commence their recovery to base from the Duxford overhead.
Anyone know what else is flying at Rougham tomorrow?
Neal
Think there is a T67, 3 Stearmans, 3 Chipmunks and one of the aerobatic guys but can’t remember who.
Relax Steve, a quibble over location from the weird folk of Norfolk isn’t anything to get heated about.
AFH10 – no. Regrettably?
Moggy
I certainally regretted it! 🙂
Nigel Willson – good bloke.
Moggy
Never seen him on a night out then Mogs?
Oh, and for the record I was between Reedham and Somerleyton.
So it is SOUTH NORFOLK as far as I am concerned !!
Who really cares apart from the pilot, South Norfolk North Suffolk could be either in minutes,Steve
Actually I couldn’t give a rats a*** if it was South Norfolk or North Suffolk, I knew where I was and I knew where the airfield was 🙂
Which isn’t South Norfolk…………..! Could it have been the Yak based at Norwich airport?
Indeed it was AF, good to see you the other day by the way, same thing should happen this weekend as Wednesday 15th for an overnight if you want to see it flying again (in better weather)!
AFH10,
Could I suggest that perhaps one of the owner’s pleasures might be taking it around for people to look at and photograph. Those people will almost certainly include peers and fellow owners.
Personally in this case I totally respect the owners right and privilege to protect his perspex. I think I would have engaged the owner and enquired when the aircraft was ‘on stage’ or departing if it was that vital to get the shot.
Mark
Indeed it is, we reguarly take our aircraft to various shows for just that reason and as others have said, I would always be willing to let others access to them if possible and accomodate their wishes if they were reasonable but at the end of the day I and I suspect other owners do become a bit peeved with some attitudes that lead to this sort of complaint. By some I do realise that most enthusiasts are completely reasonable and it is only a very few who get a bit a***y.
Now imagine putting the bucket over the lady’s head. The clothes still look the same, but…
Mark 🙂
How many fellas would even notice the bucket 🙂
AR, if you are really that concerned you could always buy the helicopter and then you could do what you want with it.
Don’t forget people own these aircraft for their own pleasure, not to take it around for people to look at and photograph, that’s a nice by product for enthusiasts. I have actually flown in that particular aircraft when owned by its previous owner and know that its quite an expensive machine. Most of these machines will pitch up at shows for fuel, or sometimes for nothing. The true running costs are quite a bit more. Be thankfull it was there at all I say.
I have been working on my aeroplane at Popham and had people turn up and all but tell me to get out of the way so they can photograph it. It works both ways. I really have no problem with genuine enthusiasts but often we get rude people turn up and expect access to a private hanger as it is their right. OK, they didn’t pay to get in and the aircraft are not on public show but some people act as if they were!
Kind of what I was trying to say. No problem with genuine polite people but some think we own and operate aircraft for their benefit.
AIC 47/2005 Mauve 155 May 26 details routes and times of practice days and actual event.
What a shame that such a beautiful aircraft like a Beech 18 will have to suffer the elements.
From the other side, I remember a flight we did in the Bulldog at NW during the Air Britain fly-in last year. We were sitting in the aircraft doing the post-flight paper work when a number of spotters came into the revetment. We asked them if they’d like to have a close look at or even sit in the aircraft. “Oh, no,” one of them said, “we only want the registrations.” With that, they swept off in to the next revetment.
We got out and put the covers on!
YR
Absolutely true, we have many spotters turn up during the course of a week and ask for access to our hangar which has a couple of ‘interesting’ aircraft in. We will normally allow it but MOSTLY they are only interested in standing by the door followed by NORMALLY the first and only question which is ‘what’s the reg of the aircraft in camoflage?’ With that they dissappear to the next hangar. I personally would like to see some enthusiasts as opposed to spotters turn up and show an interest in the aircraft themselves, they would be well received. In fact last week we looked carefully at some of the forum members and picked a couple who seemed genuine enthusiasts for a private invite to see a visiting Spitfire which was at a neighbouring hangar. Unfortunately due to our set up we couldn’t make it a general invite.
