Do you mean in addition to the large plans they have already announced for LCY?

on a more serious note, interesting move if they are looking to replace their aircraft with 757s. are the 757s to replace the whole airbus fleet, or just the long haul aircraft i.e. 340s?

I’m not certain, the source for this suggested (though was not explicit) that it would be the whole Airbus fleet.

A new scheme for Air India has always been a problem. They introduced a new livery in the 90’s (designed by Landor if my memory serves me correctly), but there was public uproar in India because the Window Palace’s had disappeared, so this new livery goes some way to dealing with the issue. Here is the last attempt at a rebrand..

If that’s the case, then why build a temp runway and not use the LCY fascilities that are readily available.

I guess its because legally, as a result of constraining planning constraints, the airport would need to seek special dispensation in orer to open, and its probably not something they want to do because of their good neighbour policy. The other stupid thing (I say stupid given the overall skill of the pilots and the manouverability of the aircraft) is that the aircraft would need to be approved to use the Airport as part of the licence.

LOL, for once I can’t slate you for your question…although I’m not sure I would have done sufficient deliberating over the topic to post a question. However I will await a response form someone in the near future..

    Hi[:)]

Looks like it’s going to be next to LCY!

Could be quite interesting for commercial pilots in the area.

Shouldn’t effect LCY as they’ll probably start the flying in the afternoon once the Airport has closed (it is closed from Saturday lunchtime until Sunday afternoon). I should think they’ll be well out of the way for the LHR approach over central London.

Well I was suprised to find that although school holidays are part of the blackout period, you can actually book for October half term! So it’s a day trip to Dublin for my partner (whose a teacher) and I. The only problem was deciding when to go and from where. MAN is or closest airport, but the flight times may not give you as much time in DUB as flying from LPL (still relatively close). So my solution, well I booked Tuesday return flights from LPL, and Wednesday return flights from MAN, so I can dump one or the other. But this of course means I have spent a whole 8p instead of 4p!! Better get back to work to make up for it!

    i) Stelios INSISTS he wants to trial sea plane ops for his new Greek Island venture.

ii) To save costs Stelios suggests planes can fly during the week, but work for easyCruise at weekends!

I wouldn’t have thought so mate. Flyglobespan have got allot of problems and not enough aircraft to cover there routes. IMHO i think it would be wise for them to get all there long haul aircraft back operating for them and try and sort out the mess that has been there long haul services.

OK Luke, you’re just doing it to wind me up now right?

    LOL, well modified.

Oh god, dont say there leaseing another to Air India??

You mean ‘they are’ and therefore you should type “they’re”! I know I’m being an a** about this, but it is starting to get annoying.

On the subject of correct grammar, to compound the fact that one single, solitary word doesn’t constitute a sentence, paragraph, or anything else worthy of being described as a written example of the English language, you neglected the inclusion of a capital letter and a full stop. 😉

    Paul

Well in actual fact it should have had inverted commas I guess, but it was not supposed to be a sentence, simply a correction of an (regular) error.

“Would need a quarry full of aggregate to build up a plateau at that end.”

    Why?

I suggest you look at Madeira ariport for an innovative solution to a runway extension.

A runway extension at LBA is in the Government’s long term strategy for UK airports and the winning bidder will be more than aware of this.

    See also IOM.
