At the risk of sounding harsh… “I work within the aviation industry” could also mean a baggage handler or a ticket agent… 🙂
Perhaps LOL.
I’m wondering something here; when was the last time you have been in contact with ATC personnel while flying in or over Quebec? Just wondering where you got your “facts” from. Funny how one can have an opinion on a subject and by using a simple statement such as (it’s), “just true” that suddenly your opinion becomes factual, (well at least in your mind).
If you do in fact have some sort of data or incidents, (i.e. time, dates & locations) I’d be happy to forward these reports to Transport Canada.
I work within the aviation industry, as a consultant and hear lots of talk of it being a notorious problem. No fact to back it up directly, and I do think I should say that its not something you hear much of nowadays in Canada, but it wasn’t long ago that it was a regular issue. I was aiming the comment MORE at France itself though to be honest (hence talking about CDG), where even the national airline wanted all communications to be in English because it felt it was safer, but the pilots and controllers wouldn’t allow it.
were else new routes should BA start from MAN
i think L.A would be a good route
maybe bangkok
hong kong
were do u think would do good.
I’m afraid (once again A330) you’re a bit in cuckoo land on this. BA will not start any of these. Its the wrong market for them, the yield out of MAN isn’t high enough and so they’d prefer to ship the pax to LHR where they can fill the back end cheap seats. LAX formerly did well in terms of load factors for BA, but the yield was not strong enough and that (along with issues regarding aircraft choice) meant that resources could be used more profitably elsewhere.
France and French speaking Canada. Not racist, just true. CDG is notorious, mainly because much of the level of english is non-existent as ATC talk to French pilots in French, how can you be spatially aware of aircraft around you don’t understand who ATC are talking to.
We’re pleased with the result!!! 😉
Do you mean in aviation related matters or in general, just out of interest?
Paul
I would say in general! Unless you’ve been to uni then you’ll not know how much fun it is. Of course it could just be Loughborough, hence why Adam and I would have the same opinion…but I know thats not true. The majority of my friends went to uni, in all sorts of locations and courses and they all had 3/4/5 fantastic years. Aviation course optional LOL.
I’m assuming you’ve been to http://www.baworldcargo.com/ for a start. It includes their schedule etc so you can get a feel for the dedicated freight services. As pointed out above, BA World Cargo carries most of its cargo as bellyhold freight. You might have been better picking a true giant in the freight sector with a more independent stance, perhaps Lufthansa cargo, Singapore Airlines cargo, Air France cargo, KLM Cargo or similar.
or perhaps just fishing for an upgrade!
On a shuttle flight? The only upgrade would be to the jump seat LOL.
They’ve also announced CVT at the same time.
Use this link for basic information from the surveys..

The actual survey data is not published freely, it has to be bought, and at great expense. What are you wanting to know from it?
They do operate the A340-600 into Australia from KL
Well, IF they do then they must be on short term wet leases, and I’m not sure who from. The only Airbus aircraft listed in their fleet are 5xA330-200, 11xA330-300 and the order for 6xA380s. I know they use their A330s to some parts of Oz. I did a search on airliners.net and jetphotos.net, but no photos of these aircraft, and I did a search of the ATI news database and there is no news about them wet leasing such aircraft.
I’m afraid I will ONLY believe this when I see an offending photo. Are you sure you’re not getting them mixed up with Thai?? Or perhaps the A340 mixed up with the A330? (God I’m sorry that probably sounds REALLY patronising Steve, it isn’t meant to be, just trying to resolve).
I’m quite happy to be corrected if wrong, but I’d want a photo I think because I’ve never heard or seen ANYTHING about Malaysia AL operating any A340s.
Perhaps he was a passenger on the first “BA Shuttle” branded LHR-MAN flight?
The timescale would be about right for that.
I think it is probably something to do with this. A selection of routes in the UK were upgraded to “shuttle” just prior to the arrival of 757s in the early 80s, although the first shuttle route was launched in 1975 between LHR-GLA. I think the upgrade to shuttle brought tridents onto all of the relevent routes as the standard aircraft. I would have thought Shuttle would have been introduced earlier than 1979 on the MAN route, but I may be wrong and so that could resolve the 27-year time scale.
I’m flying out of LHR in October, to Brisbane, via KL. Only going economy class. Does anyone know whether it’s 747’s that plough this route, or A340’s?
They’d have to operate some A340s generally before they could put them into LHR 😉
Its difficult because the Airport is co-ordinated, i.e. you have to apply for slots. Airlines therefore have to consider far in advance some potential new routes, but as time draws on they often withdraw from any slots they have been awarded. Often this is why people think a route is being launched, when in truth its just airlines securing slots beofre they make business decisions, because the two do not necessarily go hand in hand.
Thai have identified MAN as a route they’d like to start in the ‘relatively’ near future, but as yet I’ve not heard anything about it being launched.
The ERJ was nightstopping there for a day doing a local flight today and departing later.
Well, there we go then, wonder who that could be for!?! 😉
As for the lectures, I have just 12 hours a week. Today for example, Ive had a single one hour lecture. And thats it. Ahhh, this is the life. 😀 :diablo: :p
Yes, it is a bit of a doss LOL! Have they got a pure ATM lecturer yet?
