I’d be a little suspicious of Cowley as a take-off point as well, as I don’t know of any aerodrome there – unless anyone knows better? After all, there were a lot of Tiger Moth’s built there.
Adrian
Well, well. Consider me educated – I’ve driven across it on the Oxford ring piece – sorry, road – often enough!
Thanks for that, baz!

Not a huge fan – though I did use to live in the village he’d lived in until 1986 – but if you read “Flying Finish”, I think you’ll find that it ends at an unnamed airfield that surely must be Llandwrog…

I normally recycle mine through the local Air Cadets every year or so. I don’t suppose they will miss one so PM me with your address, and I’ll send you mine.

I can’t imagine anyone arguing that WW2 bombing reports aren’t relevant to historic aviation.
If anyone wants to see the originals the ERO has an online search called SEAX here: http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/
However, there’s at least an eight-year backlog in items to be added to the catalogue, so there’s no promise they’ve actually made it on there.

The first one might be a Hillman, thus probably one of the infinite Minx models.
No7 looks like a Mk1 Hillman Husky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman_Husky
Not sure about ENY465, though the grille is quite Jaguar-esque, but there’s a Morris Oxford behind it on the ferry and, top left in that pic, a rare beast, a series MO Morris Oxford: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Oxford#mediaviewer/File:Morris_Oxford_MO_1952.jpg
No10 is a Morris of some sort from the badge.
The van is a Fordson: http://gomotors.net/Fordson/Fordson-Van/photos.html?pic=7
Any help?

Funny you should say that Moggy. This is another family car that dad said was a van conversion.
An Austin A40 of some sort -the second batch of A40 models, possibly a Somerset? Traveller versions were all the range so it’s entirely possible someone would have built their own. Nowadays it’s unusual to see any other than the still-ubiquitous Morris Minor.

Good job I wasn’t drinking tea, Moggy!
I think he’s got a camera out…

You should explain to the majority of forumites who DG is, way before most of their times 🙂
If they can’t be ersed to Google him they don’t deserve to find out!
There used to be a web site devoted to fat reenactors, but it seems to have gone AWOL, believed eaten by hungry Obergruppensturmfuhrer.
Adrian
I was going to suggest that he’d be the right sort of age to play Dick Grace (now that would be a film worth watching… if you can stand something like a Youtube crash compilation!) but in fact DG was born in 1898, so he’d have been four years younger than Pitt is now in 1945.

FWIW, SWMBO’s job includes sending people on speed awareness courses, and she does get the occasional phone call thanking her for arranging it, as they’ve found it really educational. YMMV!

(awaiting three points from the Abbreviation Police)
Thank you, hypersonic, I was not aware of that distinction.
