How much did it reach? and also, was this an unused Comet Fuselage or was it actually in service?

    Hi!!!

No, I was just interested in the story of the airframes… the reg isn’t important to me but might be to others I suppose….

    Thanks,

    Paul

    “Not worth collecting the DNA”

    😮

Did the Police tell you that?! They could have easily got the DNA from the blodd and identified the culprits if they are known to Police. Any small amount will do. Even if it is old and dried. If it was the cops that told you that, they probably didn’t want the hassle or expense of investigating it all.

I would have made a formal complaint if I were told this.

    Sorry to change the subject.

Wasn’t the T33 restored totally in the last few years? There seems to be lots of the lettering flaking off already which is a shame.

The B-24 story was in the March 1990 (I think) issue of Flypast. It was seen by a pilot named Jeet Mahal. I can remember this because it was the first Flypast that I ever bought and was fascinated by the story! is there anything more to it?

Out of interest, what kind of maintenance has been done to XH558 since retirement? Has she been started or taxied?

I was always under the impression that the cockpit is fairly gutted in the Vulcan. Is it complete?

I think it’s just some chancer with a helicopter. I can certainly think of better ways to spend £400!

It’s nothing to do with the speed – it’s the sheer complexity and as cool as it might be, the Lightning is actually dangerous. I’m nothing more than an enthusiast yet even I know that it’s a good idea not to fly these jets unless you are 1) An airforce or 2) The manufacturer.

Daft ?????? , its not a case of not bothering with the engines, if any are sourced they can be fitted at a later date. I will tell the lads who were working on the Jag over winter freezing their butts off in a un-heated hanger they should’nt have bothered as its daft !!.

If you had cared to read my other post, once it had been explained to me that the jet engine, jetpipe and reheat are integral and possibly hard to get hold of, I repeated what a good job it all is. I wasn’t aware that the reheat section couldn’t be fitted without everything else but now I am.

    Thank you.

Jetpipes/reheat modules are integral with the engine so the only way to mount them would be to install the complete engine unit

Ah I see! Forgive my ignorance. What a shame. Lets hope they can fit some expired units at some point!

    Great job anyhow!

It does look amazing! However, is there a shortage of Jetpipes/reheat units as it just doesn’t look right at the back. It seems daft to go to all that trouble yet not bother with a major component.

I always assumed that they were wired shut so that nobody would walk into them, especially in the case of the Hendon example. Maybe they forgot to undo the ones at Cosford when they put it on it’s plinth?
