I once flew on a British Airtours Tristar ‘Swansea bay’ in 1987 to Menorca. It was brilliant, although when I had seen her previously at Airport Hotel (End of Manchester Airport runway) she made a very disconcerting noise from the port engine when full power was selected. I heard this on several occasions as well as quite audibly from inside the cabin when I flew on her! I think that the Tristar is a really attractive aircraft, more so than the DC-10 due to her kinked No3 engine pipe……

Well when I went last in 1996 I found (terminal 2a at least) to be very decrepit and drab. There are good opportunities however for photography when you are ‘airside’ in my opinion.

Sorry! A bit bigger than I thought it would be! Not strictly an airliner, but a C135 (B707) vip transport at Fairford 1999 taken by me!

Beautiful aircraft nevertheless!:)

Then again the corporate colours of the late 80’s/90’s were good too although I think those awful ‘ethnic’ tail designs cheapened the airline. Even Mickey Mouse airlines like PIA and Air Uzbekistan don’t do this kind of thing!!!!!

Good riddance!

Although bring back some proper corporate coulours I say. Fly the Union Flag proper and get some decorum back in our NATIONAL AIRLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m sorry for knocking your idea mate. It is good that you have taken the time to come up with an idea to make things better. Just because I have been using this forum for longer than you does’nt make it any more mine than yours. This forum is for everyone and that whilst a chat room is not my cup of tea it may be someone else’s.

Stick with the forum mate. I type all day at work and have RSI already. I want to refer to what I have said anyway and as per my previous comment, chatrooms are a magnet for charlatans, cranks and buffoons. I have better things to do than chat to some goddamn gobshite kid (not you!-I’m being general) about how much they like “Jumbos”……….

The whole point about the forum is that whatever we say is recorded and that we can refer to the knowledge (apart from it also being a fantastic marketing/ research tool, for Key Publishing! 🙂 ) gained and discuss things at will. I don’t like chatrooms, they are a magnet to fools, charlatans and buffoons.

I thought this guy was banned from our forum! This guy is an impostor. He is not an airline captain and has no right to be asking people to e-mail him. For the benefit of newcomers to this forum this plonker has been on before although his agenda has not yet been ascertained. Please do not entertain him in any way as he is clearly up to no good. At best a Walter Mitty charachter, at worst a potentially dangerous individual.
