    RE: Aeroplane Crashes

Well personally I think that it is a bit silly to start saying “which airline is the safest” e.t.c. At the end of the day, all 1st world airlines are maintained to more or less the same standard and that if any one particular plane crashes, it’s not really the airlines fault. For example, FLS aerospace at Manchester airport maintain a lot of aircraft for a lot of airlines including some Continental aircraft. So if a CO aircraft crashes, do we blame it on the airline? An air crash depends on a variety of factors, such as weather, component failure or human error…. very rarely on the aircraft. For example a (well looked after) former Brittania airways 737-200 augered into a jungle in South America a few years ago. Was it the fault of Brittania? or the fault of the new operating airline? No….. It was the fault of a dodgy artifical horizon (the 2 backups apparently failed).. so really it could be said that it ws just an unfortunate chanin of events………. The only airlines that you would be well advised not to go on would be your 3rd world/african/asian airlines (sudan airways/ethipoion airlines e.t.c.).. the reason??? well think about it…… are those mechanics really qualified to work on these aircraft? If so, why do they work there for £3 a week when they could (if qualified) get a much better paid job in the 1st world and where they are in great demand???????????? because they are’nt qualified to our standards, that’s why……… Go talk to the FAA/CAA they will tell you……… most of these airlines are banned from our airspace to start…………

    RE: air rage

Well I just don’t understand why the government can’t ‘pull’ someones passport if they are found guilty of these acts(or any other acts of mischief abroad). That way, we Brits would get our reputations back and decent people would not have to mix with scum on their flights….

    RE: Cheap airlines

Well the CAA just won’t let any aircraft fly without proper maintenance support. Usually, these airlines aircraft are maintained by other otherlines/professional contractors such as FLS aerospace and are in no way decrepit or inferior. I flew with Easy jet the other month and that was a new aircraft although I did notice a rivet missing from the intake lip of the portside engine!!!!!!!! 🙂

Yeah, the A-10 can fire 7 milkbottle sized DU rounds per second! It has a slower speed that the WW2 Thunderbolt and can sustain loads of damage and still stay in the air…….

    Awesome!

Hey mate… Leave Kabir alone. It is of my opinion that he brings some refreshing opinions to this forum. I welcome his opinions and thoughts and just because you don’t agree, there is no point in flaming him like that. I don’t want to fall out with you but anyone who loves aircraft as much as this guy is alright by me.. okay?

    Paul.

Sorry if I have embarrased you Kabir, but this kind of gig is’nt on in this forum….

Oh and also, Bobby B, a Lightning driver once climbed past a U2 at 60,000 feet to the dismay of the U2 guy! An F3 also once overtook Concorde in the late 70’s and the actual aircraft is now in preservation in the North east of England. What a fantastic aircraft!!!!!!!!!

P.S: have you seen the SR-71 at Duxford yet? I went on Sunday, it;s in the Superhangar at the moment. God-damn awesome!!!!!!!

    RE: A B747-500?

I don’t really understand why they can’t bring out a double decker 747. If airbus can do it with a similar airframe design, why can’t Boeing. Stick a few Trents on the thing and increase the upper deck area and there you go; a double decker! I know CofG e.t.c. has to be taken into consideration but I’m sure that it’s not beyond the realms of immpossibility……..

    Any Ideas?

Only the Victor K2’s. They have all gone to St Athan for reduction to spares. They tried to keep one at Brize Norton for the gate but the top brass were’nt having any of it apparently…

Was she blonde too Kabir? 🙂 !!!!! Well, I just suppose some people can’t understand what our gig is all about. I mean, if I went with someone to a station I don’t think that i could tell one train from the other. As long as aviation make an impression on someone….. that’s what matters to me…….:) J’aime le Avion!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

RE: VC10. (newspaper article in the UK this week)

Nah mate! Not ALL of the VC10’s have gone. Only some variants. I heard that the VC10 will stay in service for a few years yet although I suppose the spares situation must be getting difficult now. Then again the RAF do have a a habit of improvising and ‘getting their moneys worth’ out of airframes! I hope it lats for a bit longer as it’s a great plane in my opinion…………….. whaddayareckon guys??????
