How difficult would it be to recreate a Mk II Lancaster presuming you had a Mk I or III Lancaster fuselage, wings and tail?

Has anyone ever considered it? I think they look awesome like that.

I think one landed at Burtonwood in 1943/44.

Does anyone have pictures of inside the control tower and remaining buildings?

Oh well, thanks for that! I’m glad that it is possibly going to be preserved. It would be a shame to demolish it.

Well actually, the tactics were for the aircraft to go into a vertical climb above the target and the ordanance would slip out of the back. The aircraft would then complete it’s half loop and maintain a reciprocal course out of the target area. By the time the ordanance had lost it’s upwards energy and the barometric fuse had gone off, the aircraft would be long gone (in theory).

Might seem a bit of a daft suggestion, but if fully restored, would she not be suitable for a one time only flight as a military aircraft operated by BAe to another airfield such as Manchester or Elvington?

Seriously? So it’s okay to vandalise aircraft then? Perhaps you might like to reflect that without aicraft like the SR-71 (and indeed, the entire US air force/RAF) you might not have the freedom to write on a forum like this.

As for people vandalising aicraft in producation, it’s just putting peoples jobs (and lives) on the line based on pure speculation on what they might be used for.
