Every time i see a picture of this F-313 toy I can’t stop thinking WHY …

They have to keep the canopy open inflight since what I have seen the acryl used is not very smooth.

    Here Moggy C !

    3.1 grams 74 x 150 mm cell with 3.6 volts.

    http://www.scientificsonline.com/solar-cells-thin-film.html

    So 0.011 m2 gives 3.6 volts !?

    327 volts / sqm ?

In other words 280 grams for a sqm and thus with 20% efficiency 270 watts per 1 m2 at optimal conditions.

My craft could thus have 2.8 kW power at best conditions. Which is 6 times more than muscle powered do at best for 1 hour or so.

Considering that SI does 70 km/h at 7 kW and weighs 1600 kgs..my craft ought to have an outstanding climb rate as well with 4 times better power to weight ratio ( in optimal ie. similar conditions as SI ).

They integrated them to wingformers to be the surface in Solar Impulse..this AC is 60 kilos…and you need no gas to carry around. Objective is to fly only in daylite ( unlike SI ).

Problem with kinda threads is that they get closed fast.

Here is some humour to it; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN74T2v6Hg8&feature=related

Anyway I firmly belive that it is possible to fly with alternate energy plane with 6 people from point A to B at 150 km/h around 500-600 km in 10 years time.

    😉

Here is my latest totally solar powered alternative aircraft ( electric start but solar cruise ).

    3D modelled in Slovenia.

The point remains, you want to fight over the enemies territory not yours. Tiny “efficient” fighter are of little use. They may be cute and fast, but about their only use is to look pretty at local airshows.

    Maybe so !?

topspeed, the Russian AF has yet to produce a smaller light weight future fighter aircraft.
perhaps you should use your talents and put something together and post it in the RuAF thread

I think Russia indeed could produce an efficient machine, but so could USA, China and France for instance.

While small fighters may have their slot, look at history. You only have to look at WWII both the Spitfire, and the the 109 were great for close to home but didnt have the range to protect their bombers. And yes the Zero had the range, but was a lightweight fire trap with no selfsealing gas tanks or armor.

Look at when things got hot in Afganistan and Pakistan. Only the F-14 had the range to be effective.

There was much smaller and better aircraft than Me-109 which was also faster to choose from, but was not chosen because the factory owner was not a nazi..luckily so because nazis could have won with more efficient weapons.

Hmm J85 engines, el cheapo midget fighter, asymmetric warfare concept. Are you pitching to Iran or what?

I can assure you Finland nor me ( myself and I ) are not going to el attack to Iran nor any other country…unless we are attacked first or attack is eminent. 😉

Here is an other way to look at the size of the 5th generation fighters.

He passed away at the second hospital, so he did survive the crash and fire, but what injuries he sustained from the crash are unknown but might be revealed in the final report. I haven’t seen any initial report yet. The SACAA website is http://www.caa.co.za. usually they remark whether or not an accident is survivable.

I am really sorry for what happened to Glen Dell and my sincere condolences to the family !

I have to admit that those fire fighters are not very professional.
When I was a kid I used to watch the local firemen put out the dustbins (quite regularly) and they would stop, have the shutters down and hoses out in seconds.
It doesn’t take much effort to point a hose.

I hope those firemen get sued for a murder.

Never forget that technically as long as you have the plate with the serial number, it is *rebuildable*. You “just” need to change everything.

This aerodyne is present in AIr AMERICA the movie..they tell the PC6 was illegal in the US. Why so ?

I do think you are underestimating space needed for pilot to operate the plane, as well as fuel storage.

See this Wanderlei..still the same opinion ?

Guessing the top speed for small craft with 2 x J-85 ?

    Like here maybe; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHuBsBOF4R8

Below is what smaller RADAR, ENGINE(s) and less versatile ARMAMENT means in terms of the size.

You must be popping way too many illegal pills as that size comparison with the Bearcat is pure bs.

The Bearcat is much larger than that, especially as the pilots feet are where some piston would be but with your lets pretend world I imagine the Bearcat is powered by a Briggs & Stratton lawn-mower engine and it will still do 500 mph.

Sure it is smaller than the real F8F this is a 32% ( 8/25 ) version of it. Possibly powered by a flat 4 engine.
