4000k range? 70 kilo’s? Tellim ees dreamin.
No he amn’t ! 😀
Well to do the new record in C-1A0 you have to have the plane at 55-60 kilos empty to be able to load it with 70-100 liters of fuel and a lite jockey to fly it. I am 105 kilos empty…and 108 loaded and I need food and drink too.
Seen the LW-02 distance record yet at FAI pages ?
RAL1T records are easy to brake;
JT442
Okay…small compartment behind the pilot seat for jacket and trousers and an overnite bag in this ac is doable..but range is cut from 5000 km to 4000 km..okay !?
😉
I was originally designing this to carry golf clubs..they still could be carried inside the wing ( making the wing tanks smaller ). You will then have only a small carrybag ( not the BAG BAG !! ) behind the seat.
You cannot say it is not for you unless you haven’t seen it. Can you now ?
Test pilot was surprised when I gave him the weights..is it really that lite he asked..it has to be in order to be economical.
There are 43-45 kilo aeroplanes also like Whing Ding II and Elfe P1.

Well, either way, good luck with it. I would advise that you stay away from any association with the spitfire during your design and prototype stages. Let the public decide if it looks like an icon….
I would also look further in depth at what you’re doing – where does the aircraft fit within the market? IS there a market? Will the LAA / CAA certify it? Is it certifiable in other countries? Is it a pure aerobatic fun toy, or can it convert to carry bags – does it have a usable range?
You are entering a very crowded market here…..
That is what my test pilot said..Spitfire II does not sound very original..
What you can do with it besides fly circles in the sky ? Well I’ll tell ya what it can do…it can fly you and your wallet + cellphone ( or computer ) and pair of underwear from point A to point B that are 5000 km apart in 40 hours nonstop..this is possibly not very impressive..but it can do it using 50£ on fuel/gas ! It can also do it electric and using solarpanels with slightly less speed but using 0 £ on fuel..if you live in a sunny country unlike I do. Plane might cost 4 000 quids more in electric version..how does that sound now ? The electric version is called Carmen Electra II ( don’t ask why..it is a long story ).
I was designing this and a girl asked me can it fly electric…then I saw this vid…and it hit me; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkFeLDK6V_M …maybe Carman Electra is better..then Carmen won’t sue me ?
The solarcells that produce electricity for one hp have 3 m2 area and weigh 2 lbs ( around a kilo ). After being airborne this kite can fly at 1,5-2 hp…not very fast around 45 kts….from dawn to sunset.
This can be certified..best thing about it in Finland is that it needs no lisence whatsover to fly or certify since it is under 70 kilos in weight. Stall is at under 65 km/h so it can be certified as microlite under FAI rules.
…and thanks for asking Cat herder !
You lost my interest right away.. “Lite” and “Airplanes” ewwwww!!. Sorry I can’t make constructive criticism on this but it’s been done to death and I’ve heard it before so many times.
Bet you don’t get it past the fag packet stage.
Well I can always name it an Albatross II also…making it more central european..or continental…but all available names seem to be in use..Sparrow or Swallow could be a name for it too.
What is a fag packed stage anyway ?
—
Edit;
Ok I looked the fag packed stage…okay..yes this is a 4 years old project so far..it only 2 days ago started look like a Spitfire etherically..when I shaped the wing a bit into Prandtl direction more. The aspiration in design that drowe Mitchell is in this design too..therefore it looks a bit Spitfireish.
Apart from the one’s suggested, just loogit the net, yool find lotsa machinery from Cri Cri’s to the Corby Starlet.
Well you a correct..there are lotsa airplanes in the world.

Mustang II is a two seater.
I saw a Lyndon Aurora there…what kinda plane is that ?
Reinventing the wheel :dev2:
What do you mean ? There has never been this lite aerobatic aeroplane.
Keep an eye on Indus Aviation – they are re-packaging the old Thorp T2-11, production of kits and completes in China, and fitted with a diesel, continental, rotax….. and will be much cheaper that what you’re proposing. Granted its not aerobatic and can’t be stored in the garage, but it IS practical….
I doubt it..only just a rotax costs more than my craft.

Like I said…I am only talking about neighbourhood of the price..if the production is taken to China..the price may be half. New Cessna ultra is 150 000 + $/€s
Surely you are re-inventing the Twister?
I find Twister a bit too big…and maybe more just like a Spitfire..my craft looks a bit into Nemesis NXT direction from it…and a homebuilt alternative…I might patent the building contruction that includes foam, plywood, glassfibre and carbon. The wing sorta gives similar impression as in a Spitfire..it looks like a bit too big for it.
This weighs only 60-70 kilos.
It would seem so. But using the name Spitfire in association with this particular aircraft is, I fear, a step too far.

Moggy
Bushfeuer Mk I perhaps ?
Those IO-720s produce 400 hp.
——
BTW: I have a plane design that has no similarities with Spitfire but the spirit of it…light maneuverable fast beautiful..sorta like the best of the spirit of the classical sporting aeroplane ? Ok wing is sorta semi elliptical. Would it be illegal to use the name Spitfire II on it….in marketing etc ?
The only other 60% scale Spit I can think of is this one:
(image via rcgroups.com)Again, 0-200 powered, with fixed gear. In actual fact, it’s based on a Taylor Titch originally.
Was the XIV also 22.48 m2 in wing area..then 50% is too small..60% would do.
Are there any 2-3 cyl inlines ( 2 stroke ) that could fit the fuselage without having to mess around the proportions ?
Edit:
( Now you might think…doesn’t that “moroon” see the cockpit will be bulged ! )
Any 60% Spits around in scale ?
I was just wondering wouldn’t it be easier to make it 55-60% than 90% ?
Northwood/London
I visited Northwood where my brother lived a year..and also visited London and Cambridge/Duxford and photographed the fighter collection there.
I was very surprised that the Dragon Rapide aeroplanes are still in regular use. What a fine ac that is.
1976 I visited the Farnborough air show when F-15 was a hot new aircraft. I had FAF ex-chief test pilot with us back then.
pity h&s was,nt around in 1939/45,for him and all his mates.with all there rules and laws makes you wonder how people get to be in the 90,s or hopefully more…
I read local newspaper KALEVA the other day and a 102 years old was interviewed..he was still driving his very own car and said his drivers lisence is still valid until 2015..have to take checks every year at doctor though.
My long gone aunts husband is still around who was a squadron leader when flying with Blenheims..soviets shot his copilot on one mission…bullet went right through him. Very few of those heroes around anymore.
