ET is a real fighter…M2 and supercruise.
by swiftly invading Russia shows the efficiency and effectiveness of its forces. It sends are very positive message to wider Arab world and West. You can see this from reaction of Finland. A country that is bankrupt by forces of Globalization want to buy Stealth fighters. Just look at Nokia, steel and timber industry. US is the leader of Globalization where it can employ millions of Asians/Hispanic. EU simply cant compete with it. if EU even remotely try to match Russia military might by importing US weopons. there will be social and economic implosion.
or if US want to come back to EU on same scale as Pre-1991. there will be massive printing of dollars to support it.(look at Irak war period). All those things enormously benefit Russia.Ukraine is too undisciplined/dysfunctional as country from 1991. the only way in 21st century it can be compitable with Russia economically is for Russia to take it over and completely retrain and retool the labor and system of governanace. otherwise Russia will continue to pluck the suitable labor.
I think Finland is less backrupt than US per capita, but direction is not good. Ukraine should be a free democracy…you should understand this.
This is a real good movie…NEERJA; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg2Td6tH4FQ
Good luck Mr Gorski?
Neil says something cryptic.
how exactly can Sweden/Finland cooperate with Nato. Nato membership does not mean you can buy weopons cheaper.
I think the possibility get engines, missiles and weapons in the first place is the aim.
so you are training on part time basis with 30 years old F-15s. Nato in 2020 will be far less capable and less important than what it has now.
USSR is flying with 55 years old bombers. I bet Finland and Sweden could rise the stardard of NATO considerably and thus it could become capable again …:)). Also we cannot join the Warzaw Pact as it does not exist.
As I said before: Such courage, enthusiasm and perseverance; akin to missionaries. I’ve read and heard the idiom ‘doing the Lord’s work’ many times, used to describe an uphill, if not altogether impossible, task.
Well isn’t that what everyone is trying to do ? What did Leonardo da Vinci, Otto Lilienthal, The Wright brothers, Mozart….even JFK wanted to do ? Doing things not because they are easy but because they are hard. What did Neil Armstrong say to new astronauts ?
The cleverest part of the FW 190 was the Kommandogerat which automatically adjusted propeller pitch, rpm and mixture control according to the throttle position selected by the pilot. Virtually an early computer.
That is clever…like the computer on Apollo…small but practical.
I never knew about this. Thanks for informing us.

I always liked the D-9.
And here’s a 1/48th A-5 model that I built recently….

It is this one ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grhvrTkJI-4

This 1/12 scale model ( Ta-152 H-1 ) flies 100 mph; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztb9RD7eJOQ
Maybe this is better in the finnish airforce thread? Btw is the new fighter budget really usd 11 billion? Isn’t that higher than norways allocation for their f-35 purchase?
I think we are discussing 6 billion deal. 30 Textron Scorpins possibly…and few UAVs.
Discussing at length (with nobody) that an axis aircraft was actually alright? Asking the sort of questions about aircraft construction that often get exasperated and snarky responses… then answering your own questions… On a forum that barely has a good word to say about US aircraft, let alone any other non-British type?
Such courage, enthusiasm and perseverance; akin to missionaries. Almost.
Hello Meddle !
I am a monk if you’d see how I live yes.
Just wanna share some light to these “evil” nazi designs as they posses some pretty clever engineering as well.
I like to read correct information also in the future.
BTW: the FW-190 D had very hard absorbers and if you landed it too roughly it could turn upside down…also recovery from a stall in Langnase was pretty complicated procedure…even lethal.
rgds,
Juke
PS: There is also a chance that I wouldn’t be here typing if these oberst Kurt Kuhlmey FW-190As hadn’t been around to help us in 1944.
I remember seeing photographs of this aircraft years ago but, didn’t know enough about the Gauntlet to realize that it was not an original engine. It’s good to see that it is still being looked after well.
Steve
The paint seems to be peeling of from metal surfaces. I know the pilot pretty well he was with me and my dad in Farnborough air show in 1976. We stayed in the same hotel.
Another neat video of the Gauntlet; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL5ehy_Df_M
Engine is from Percival Pembroke and wheels from a Polikarpov I-153.
I agree the sounds of the aeroplane are audible here clearly.
I always want to inform about the blue white swastika as it was adopted to FAF long before nazis even invented their symbol.
Thulin D was donated to FAF by this man count Eric von Rosen in 1918.
To be found here; http://web.comhem.se/patriksgenealogi/rosen_en.htm
The man ( Eric von Rosen ) had later in his life ( unfortunately ) ties with nazies.
Finnish “whites” inspecting the aircraft. Unlike in Russia in 1917 in Finland the “whites” won the civil war and the “reds” lost.
