Thank you both. I have the Slingsby book. The Kirby Kite 1 is a bit different from the prototype. The wings, rudder and struts. I have been storing the the remains of the prototype for a number of years. It has major glue failure. I have just bought the title of remains from the widow of the last owner this week. It has no log book. It first had a temporary BGA no222 in 1935 then BGA No236. Then it was at Central Landing Establishment, Ringway, army glider pilot training. then to 1 GTS Haddenham. Then ATC where it serial no VD213. In 1949 it was G-ALUD, the lastest BGA letters AAF.

Good day, lots of lovely aeroplane’s. Spoke to Graham for the first time in years. Dad was a bit disapointed as they didn’t fly the glider he helped to restore, But it was a bit to windy. My son took just over 900 photo’s.

G-ECAN is an De Havilland Australia built machine c/n 2048. It was built for the RAAF as A34-59, converted to civilian standard as VH-AQU , Later VH-DCX. When it was imported into the UK it was given a period registation. It was in Australia in the Marshall Airways collection at Banksdown Airport.
I flew in it at Halton The other week, forfilling a 45 year wish to fly in a DH Dragon.

I had the Dumpy book on aircraft in the late 1950’s, which my dad use to read to me about Lindbergh (still a hero of mine) and Alcock and Brown. I also use to love looking a dads wartime copy of ‘Wren Oddentity’s’ cartoons of aircraft.

Thanks to Propstrike for taking my son for a flight!
