Was so close to get a shot of the cockpit of the su30mki at the static display in mumbai last year.Just as i got to the ladder with my camera that damm police chief came with his kids i guess and we were asked to go back 😡 .
My once in a life time chance gone down the drain! 🙁
I would like to see a mix of both types (mig29 and m2k) and upgrading the existing ac in the inventory to the same standard. That would make a potent force without adding a new type to the force.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE M2K-9. WHAT MAKES IT SO DIFFERENT FROM THE M2K-5?
Does anyone here think India needs a dedicated bomber like Su 32. The su32 looks awesome for a bomber.
Would the subs have detected the killer wave?
And how is it too low? Can you provide reasons please? There is a huge difference between them making 50 J10s a year and HAL churning 14 MKIs a year. I would presume most of you have no clue what the differences are. But I would like to hear from you guys anyways.
You are right the chinese avation industry is much larger than the india, but dont you think the last su coming out in 2017 is a bit too long. also consider the fact that indians are also going to produce the LCA, Hawk, IJT and the proposed MCRA.This would further delay the production rate, whereas the huge number of older ac will have to stay on till then. This is the reason i feel the production rate is too slow and perhaps we should let russians build a few more su’s and hasten the whole process or stay on with MIG21’s for another 20 years.
you are so right sameer, infact the production rate for Su 30MKI is also too low.
125 Rafales with the kinda package that IAF wants would be very expensive, this is exactly the point i tried to make in the other thread. I would love to see a mix of Rafales and Mig29’s.
call me ignorant but could someone tell me,what happned to the harriers on vikrant?
The point that i was trying to make was given the options of Dassault’s Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon which are quite expensive and the requirement of IAF abt ToT, how many a/c could we afford to buy.
IMO IAF should go in for both Mig29 as well as M2K, this would enable us to get the req numbers in a fairly quick time. The main req of IAF what I think is to increase the sqn level to 55 and also replace the ageing fleet of Migs. Also dont u guys think that the time taken by HAL to build the 140 SU30 MKI’s(the last one coming around 2017) is too long, instead we could ask the russians to build a few more and the get fleet up in the air sooner. At 2017 we should be building 5gen fighters rather than a 4+ gen fighter.
Just my opnions, fire away guys…..
😀
Hello guys,
Inclusion of Dassault’s Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon makes this competion quite interesting. would it be possible to get 126 of these for $9bn???
