I really do hope they find a way of destroying or dismantelling this nuclear reactor, the current iranian government with the possession of nuclear weapons will make the world a much more dangerous place.
one thing that i find rather suprising is The aquasition of the SD-10 BVR AAM, from what i gather the PAF wasn’t really commited to the missile thats why the opted for the R-Darter. which was seen by many as a better missile
Hi
in a previous article posted a week ago, there was mention that PAC upgraded ex-aussie Miarge Vs in PAF service with new BVR fire-control avionics, i’d like to know wether these Mirage Vs will be armed with the T-Darter or a BVR missile of chinese/ukranian origin? In addition to this, theres also been rummours that the PAF purchased a few south african Cheetas, do the PAF/PAC use these cheetas as a test bed for AA/AG munitions.
thank you

i’d like to know wether the IAF is actually taking the LCA seriously?, first of all i dont understand the hype about this aircraft, if the IAF were so comitted to buying this aircraft why have they launched a bid for 120+ 4th generation aircraft from the international market?

Jaguar crashes in Basti, pilot killed, three injured
BASTI (UP), MAY 11 (PTI)
A Jaguar deep penetration strike aircraft of the Indian Air Force today crashed in Khalilabad village near Gorakhpur air base, minutes after take off killing the pilot Flt Lt A Singh and injuring three women on the ground.
The aircraft, on a low level tactical flying mission, crashed at 8.20 a.m. near Devri village in Basti district, an IAF spokesman said in Delhi. Though, he said there was no loss of life in the crash on the ground, local police reported that the three women had suffered minor injuries.
The Air Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry to find out the cause of the accident, which comes three years after an experts’ team from Rolls Royce, Hindustan Aeronautics and the Directorate of Quality Assurance had cleared the aircraft for flying following reports of snags in the engine of the fighter.
The team, according to IAF sources, undertook aircraft-by aircraft check of the IAF’s two Jaguar squadrons, when some of the planes powered by Rolls Royce Adour engines reported low thrust.
“The team suggested some remedial measures, which have since been implemented and as a result the problem of low thrust has reduced considerably”, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee told Parliament recently.
The government ordered an experts’ study of the Jaguars, after two fighters collided in mid-air in stormy weather conditions while carrying out air combat manoeuvres over Kashmir valley and another fighter crashed over a populated area near Ambala. The Hindustan Aeronautics and Defence Avionics Research Establishment have been carrying out an upgradation of the fighters, which were inducted into the IAF in the late 70s.
The upgradation involves improving the navigation and weapon aiming capabilities of the fighters.
This is the fourth crash involving an Indian Air Force aircraft this year. Two MiG-21 fighters crashed near NAL airbase in Bikaner earlier this year, followed by an HPT trainer aircraft mishap near Hyderabad.

Pentagon moves to sell Pakistan anti-ship missiles
06 May 2005 22:30:32 GMTSource: Reuters
By Jim Wolf
WASHINGTON, May 6 (Reuters) – The Pentagon notified congress on Friday of a proposed sale to Pakistan of 40 air-launched and 20 ground-launched Harpoon Block II anti-ship missiles and related materials valued at up to $180 million.
Pakistan, a key ally in the U.S.-declared war on terrorism, plans to use the equipment to modernize its existing Harpoon missile capability, the announcement said. The Pakistani Navy already has AGM-84 Block I air/surface/subsurface launch capability, it said.
“The modernization will enhance Pakistan’s legitimate self-defense capability,” the Pentagon told congress, which has 30 days to move to block any such government-to-government arms sale.
The sale would not affect the basic military balance in the region, the notice said.
“This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that continues to be a key ally in the global war on terrorism,” it said. The principal contractors are Chicago-based Boeing and Delex Systems, Inc., of Vienna, Virginia, the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in the mandatory notice.
On March 25, President George W. Bush authorized the sale of Lockheed Martin (LMT) F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan in a reversal of 15 years of U.S. policy aimed at curbing Pakistan’s nuclear weapons program.
At the same time, the administration announced it would let U.S. firms supply India multi-role combat aircraft, including upgraded F-16s and F-18s, as well as Patriot missile defense systems.
The AGM-84 Harpoon Block II missile features satellite-guidance systems designed to attack targets in congested off-shore locations.
the capture of Abu Faraj al-Libbi must have made uncle sam really happy.
The above is a factual claim. I have been politely asking Pakistani posters to explain what exactly Pakistan’s contribution to the FC-1 project was. And everytime I have been insulted. If someone can tell me, with proof, as to what exactly Pakistan has contributed to the FC-1 project other than the name and initial funding, then I’ll be glad to take back my above post. If not, the post stands as fact.
This is not Pakdef where you can ban people for asking tough questions.
Besides, you go to IAF/IA threads and see the posts of jokers like phorzenflame and his ilk to see what the real meaning of “flamebait” is.
The above is arrogant/ child like moronic information, first you claim that the JF-17 will be engineless, now that the so called ”engine problem” has cleared up, you whine that Pakistan has only contributed to coating the plane?, this is pure ignorance. You can’t provide 1 credible source to your baseless claims.

some interesting news
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Friday that Pakistan, poised for economic growth of at least 7.5 percent this year, had removed all barriers to foreign investment, but Indian companies won’t be welcome until the rivals’ dispute over the Kashmir region is resolved.
“The atmospherics between the two countries are getting better. But the economic relations have to move in tandem with progress on many issues including the core issue of Kashmir,” he told a small group of journalists during his visit to Malaysia.
He also said Pakistan would, under certain conditions, send centrifuge parts for tests by the UN’s atomic agency to help establish whether Iran has been secretly developing nuclear weapons.
The parts could allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna to determine whether highly enriched uranium contamination found in Iran had originated there, or if it had come from Pakistan. “Yes, we will send these parts under certain conditions,” Shaukat Aziz added.
“We have various discussions going on with the IAEA as part of a process which relates to the situation between Iran and various countries. We are willing to cooperate with them to come up with some credible solution to this problem.”
The prime minister said in an address to the Asian Strategic and Leadership Institute in Kuala Lumpur later that Pakistan was committed completely to nuclear non-proliferation.
The prime minister also said the interrogation of Abu Farraj Al Libbi was “proceeding well” and follow-up action is under way.
Asked whether Al Libbi was cooperating with interrogators, Shaukat Aziz said, “I know that interrogations are going on and are proceeding well. Certainly Mr Libbi was a senior member of Al Qaeda so whatever information we get from interrogating him we will take whatever action is necessary to pick up more people.”
Asked whether information on Bin Laden’s whereabouts could be expected, he said, “I have no idea.”
Asked whether Al Libbi would be handed to the US, Shaukat Aziz said, “I think this is premature, we are still investigating the many cases that concern him.” Asked whether he would be put on trial in Pakistan, the prime minister said, “We will have to see.”
Khalid Mustafa adds: Pakistan has asked Malaysia to import the JF-Thunder aircraft. “Pakistan is making the aircraft with China’s cooperation,” the prime minister told a gathering of overseas Pakistanis on Friday.
Its interesting how people claim that the JF-17 will have no engine when its being offered to the international market.

I wonder why the indians don’t go for the MiG-31s – I totally love those planes.
pros
Has excellent ECM/SEAD capability
Cons
-the mig-31 is a complicated aircraft,
-Lacks the monuverability in WVR combat.
-Mayoko No longer manufacture Foxhounds,
-the Mig-31s which were in service during the cold war days required a hell of a lot of maintanance.
This supposedly is the Mirsad-1. (Source: Debka File)
