Spotted my old Triumph Vitesse YYR 54H in your photos MK959. Do you own it now?
Mig 15 over Duxford on Monday. Didn’t know there was one over here. Got a feeling that there is one based in scandanavia.
I’ve got a RAAF Spitfire book somewhere with a Vc coded ZP-X and Jiminy under the cockpit. Was this the same pilot or are all Australians obsessed with cricket?
Well done Duggy! We can see the ace of spades on the rudder and the squadron QY codes have been stencilled on as seen in many 452 squadron photos. Would be great to see a close up of the individual markings under the windscreens.
They should’ve started their seach with The Whirlwind Project.
Thought this might interest Whirlwind fans especially – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-31904946
Great thread – I’ve seen IX EN398 discribed at the highest scoring Spitfire. Possible a V which started as a mark I and lasted through the war, could have more kills.
Looks like the third Spifire (DB-O) is in european scheme.
Thanks ‘Reg’, I might have to have a wander up there and peak over the fence. I might walk along the footpath at the end of the runway andv see what’s there.
So sad! All aircraft gone, did they all get out under their own steam?
I heard the Pitts, but it was over Codicote/Rush Green direction. It then flew over me in the direction of Panhanger. Had seen it Christmas Eve flying the the other direction. What’s left at Panshanger?
Found a video about the Taylor Titch here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jpqw0IWRww
Worth a look just to see the prototype Taylor Mono emerging from the upstairs window of the family home.
AP-ACG Pakistan Airways / Air Force
AP-ACH Pakistan Airways / Air Force
plus at least another two with the Pakistan Air Force
and ten last heard of with the Egyptian Air Force
Are all these accounted for. Might be a good place to look. I know that Egypt and Pakistan aren’t the most hostpitable at the moment, but could a Halton/Halifax be abondned there and forgotten about?
Thanks Moggy, I’ll have ask him if he remembers more about it as my attention might have been distracted.
