When I saw this title come up I thought it was going to be this one:
So, what was the difference between and early and late Mk I screen apart from the external armoured glass?
Then surely the PR IV would be closer to an early Mk I screen.
Screen and canopy are as Mk I later production to Mk V early/mid production but without the external armoured glass and casting.

I was in Le Fertais after the accident. I asked one of the pilots if the Skyraider pilot was ok and he said he was, but seemed to put the blame with Rob Davies. I didn’t pursue the conversation.
Reanult 8 in the background.
The Mk.IX also has about 10.365″ longer nose, ‘cos its Merlin has a two stage supercharger. The stretch occurs between the back of the engine and Frame 5, the firewall.
Do AB910 or P7 currently fly with a IX nose profile?

and rectify the roundel colours.
Is that landrover blue?
It actually wasn’t in PR Blue, the colour was Landrover blue grey with a splash of more blue added to it so it didn’t look like Landrover blue grey 😀
And of course the inside would have been landrover green. The light green used on landrovers was originally leftover interior green from the aircraft industry.
PRU blue overall yet again?
Good point. Not too many options.
PRU blue or 2 tone blue ?
invasion stripes ?
roundel style ?
Am surprised RR didn’t flog it & put the money into finishing the Mk 14.
maybe they will when it’s finished. Must command a better price when flying.
I might be in the area next spring and see if I can sneak a look at it. Looks great from 95% of angles although at 17:59 it does briefly change into an Anson. I still think it’s wonderfull.
Tornado fuselage on low-loader in Hitchin. The driver was asking for direction and there is a breakers around the corner. Have heard mention on here that’s where they go to die.

As someone from the next village (where John Romain went to junior school), I can tell you that the Spitfire on the advertising is rarely the same as the one that turns up, but who cares as long as it’s a Spitfire.
