    I dislike HR and other non-productive jobs!

    @Jetflap
    This is why speed cameras are actually a safety hazard, and should in most cases be axed, especially the mobile ones. People slamming on the anchors on a straight road is a recipe for disaster.

    @Andy in Beds
    I can’t see police bureaucrats getting any sympathy from the public. I don’t have any real issue with cutting the police bureaucrats either, I’d happily cut the number in half, especially if it is well directed. The problem I see is that those people who should be cut often seem not to. Very senior police officers should have massive salary cut. We could also cut those people involved with speed cameras.

    Just a few roles we could make some huge cuts in… 😀

    General administration and management (e.g. Administrative Assistant, Business Manager).
    Marketing and Communications (e.g. Information Officer, Senior Information Officer).
    Human Resources (e.g. Training Supervisor, Recruit Interviewer, HR Administrator).
    Occupational Health and Welfare (e.g. Nurse, Health & Safety Advisor, Welfare Officer).
    Operational Support (e.g. Communications Officer, Intelligence Analyst, Property Manager, Stable).
    Crime (e.g. Crime Researcher, Fire Officer, Briefing Officer).
    Information Management/Technology (e.g. IT Analyst, IT Help Desk Administrator, IT Systems Administrator, Project Manager).
    Finance and Resources (e.g. Accountant).
    Performance/Policy/Projects (e.g. Research Analyst, Policy Developer, Business Planning Manager).

    It is! There’s a new version of it with a slightly smaller calibre which has an even longer range. It was designed it seems to be legal in California as their 50cal M82 is illegal there. The owner of Barrett Rifles has also refused to sell to, or perform repair work for, the police in California as they offended him by using one of his rifles as an example of a criminal weapon! It’s a shame this isn’t done to the police forces in the UK when they demand banning of different types of firearms. I’m sure the Police here would pretty quickly change their tune on the semi-automatic rifle ban if it meant that firearms suppliers in the UK would only sell them a .22, the same as they allow for citizens.

    “When I returned to my office from Los Angeles, I found an example of our need for mutual cooperation. Your department had sent one of your 82A1 rifles in to us for service. All of my knowledge in the use of my rifle in the field of law enforcement had been turned upside down by witnessing how your department used yours. Not to protect and serve, but for deception, photo opportunities, and to further an ill-conceived effort that may result in the use of LA taxpayer monies to wage losing political battles in Washington against civil liberties regarding gun ownership.

    Please excuse my slow response on the repair service of the rifle. I am battling to what service I am repairing the rifle for. I will not sell, nor service, my rifles to those seeking to infringe upon the Constitution and the crystal clear rights it affords individual to own firearms.

    I implore you to investigate the facts of the .50, to consider the liberties of the law-abiding people and our mutual coexistence, and to change your department’s position on this issue.”

    People who hold views or beliefs and expect everyone else to be bound by them also. Related to this, people who want to stop others doing things that don’t have any significant negative effect on others, just because they disagree with them or because they wouldn’t want to do it themselves… There are many examples, from people on the left and the right.

    I think we all have a bit of Victor Meldrew in us, and one of mine is the mindless idiiots who buy a takeaway from out local Kebab shop, and they finish it on their way home, just as they get to my front garden and thats where the empty carton is thrown…………If only I could be there when they do it:mad:

    People who tailgate on the motorway (or any road for that matter) for any reason. Just doesn’t make sense.
    Especially when there is a perfectly clear lane to overtake with and I am in the nearside lane.
    Wot, can’t they make a logical decision for themselves so feel better if they follow me?

    Indeed, and it’s very dangerous too. Still, the police are more interested in speeders as it’s easier to give a ticket for.

    It would be PPP, and the fact is that the cost of introducing a tanker a/c (which is what made the CATOBAR conversion so expensive) prohibits a U-turn

    With respect to Pongolos question, The F35-B will in my view be more than a match for anything it will have to face in the next 25 years

    The costs don’t prohibit a u-turn, the fact that they don’t wish to at this moment prohibits u-turn, nothing more. The government can do whatever it likes.

    Yet another U-turn is unlikely because the last one was embarrassing enough for the government. Particularly as at the moment they are taking a lot of flak for doing other U-tuns.

    It’s not as if anyone in the public takes much notice of defence procurement decisions so it wouldn’t be that damaging.

    If Greece wins against Germany, someone isn’t going to be getting a bailout 😉

    Ah! Chavball.

    All is now clear :rolleyes:

    I don’t quite understand how the scoring works, but I think I’ve figured out how the game works. From what I’ve seen there two teams, each meets near the entertainment stadium often in bars, where they begin the game each side trying to score a higher scoring hit on the other. Hitting the other guy with a glass scores higher than punching them for example, but being seen by the police scoring a goal gets them sent off. Then there is a half time period where both sides go to watch some men run around in the entertainment stadium with a ball and faking injuries, after which they move on to the second half of street combat a.k.a football.

    They want a low cost solution, so procuring a brand new AEW radar regardless of its capabilities is unlikely. This looks to be more like a EH101 + Searchwater or nothng, rather than a EH101 + new radar of your choice kind of situation.

    Cruise missiles aren’t going to be used against targets that might move, they will be used against ones that don’t move. Whilst it’s true that their aircraft could operate from roads, they’ll only be forced to do so if we attack all of their runways which I doubt we would considering they only have 10 to 20 working combat planes anyway. More important targets would be things like their fixed radar installations, command facilities, munitions and parts storage, and perhaps ports and ships in dock. Argentina’s A4s are not a concern, they’re museum pieces and will be massacred by modern aircraft.

    That’s why you attack the things that don’t move.
