It was quite good, liked the start, not quite as good as it went on.

Definitely too much multicultural leftist stuff in there, as could be seen from the massive over-representation of minorities in the ceremony. Anything representing Britain, should represent the population equally and without bias, so in every hundred I expect to see 96 white guys and 4 black/muslim/asian, preferably 2 men and 2 women. According to the ceremony, or more leftist media, it’s about 35% white… do they wish those other whites didn’t exist? Shocking racism on the part of the left, as usual.

Edit. Oh and people who say “I love multiculturalism” are quite a strange bunch, I think most of them just say it because it’s popular rather than because they actually love it. Not one of them has given me a concrete reason why they should love it. Now if I ask why they love their wife for example, they can give me a concrete reason. It’s much the same with people who never met a Muslim, yet hate them, very strange.

Relatively, fighter jets just aren’t that expensive. Yes, we’re talking a few billion to low tens of billions, but in the wider budgetry context they’re fairly small and room can easily be made for them if required. The simple fact is that most of the government budget goes on benefits/pensions/heathcare and other socialist items, and massive public sector workforces with their massive public sector pensions and paypackets.

A single European aircraft isn’t necessarily the answer, and actually creates opposition to the project when there is no need to create such hostility. Subsystems and engines are where most of the cost comes from, but competition is also a good thing, so the focus should be on compatibility of these subsystems. Countries wishing to make a fighter can then have a fighter project that integrates the systems as they wish, or form a European project for it, it doesn’t much matter as savings are still likely to be realised all-round.

Some people will always dodge taxes, but realistically if you want the majority to pay up, you’ve got to show them you are being sensible with their money. The government p1sses it away. A good quote from Dan Hannan on this is quite appropriate, “there’s two types of money, there’s your money and there’s my money. The trouble with the European Union is it’s all your money”, though obviously it applies to all levels of government. How can you ask a builder on 17k to cough up, by force, for some 30k civil servant who does far less work than him, whilst taking home nearly twice as much. It’s simply morally wrong. Then there’s the defenders of the public service, these people tend to prove my point for me. They say “oh so you don’t need doctors, nurses, teachers, policement, firemen, ambulance…”, my response of course is that those are all very valuable workers and we’ll keep them… and fire the ones you’ve not listed, since by not mentioning them they probably aren’t that valuable.
