    @Garyw
    Those who care about diversity and other liberal policies are more likely to be vocal about the issue. Those who feel such policies are not necessary are unlikely to be annoyed enough to actually make a vocal opinion on the matter. It’s not like the European Union issue for example, where there are strong and vocal opinions on both sides, with strong representation from each.

    I’m not talking about individual police officers, I am talking about policies.

    As for records, leave the officer’s on for 10 years then. Someone can do the same thing with a complaint about a normal citizen, so I don’t see why the police should get special protection from false accusations.

    I’d advise removing all those quotes, the mods on here seem to really hate people quoting recent posts. All those quotes would be like a red flag to a bull tbh!

    I doubt the majority of the public really cared about the reduction in ethnic minority training, just the vocal interested minority (usually white liberals) and the heavily liberal biased media such as the BBC amplifing their voice. The majority of normal people would I suspect support abolishing the polices.

    The police seem to me to pick the opinions that they want to hear a lot of the time. Taking speeding as an example, I notice they are very quick to take the views of anti-speeding groups onboard, but you never see them taking policy direction from the Top Gear audience! If they listened to a broad range of views, rather than just the ones they wanted to listen to, then they might end up with half decent policies.

    As to your final point, it depends on how the complaint is treated. The complaints should stay on file for as long as a complaint or arrest stays on file for a civilian, while I believe is forever. Is holding such things on file against anyone (not just cops) acceptable IMO? Not really, but then I am of the opinion that the government should hold as little information as possible about people, and just let them get on with their lives, without constant interference and excessive rules and restrictions. It’s YOUR life, there should should be as little interference, and limitations, on your life as possible as you only get one shot.

    But you do have a bias view of the situation than most, since as you say, you have family and friends in the force.

    Diversity training can be ditched completely, it is irrelevant. Police should not pick on individuals for any reason other than suspecting them of a crime or ensuring their safety. We could replace the ethnic diversity training with some extra self defence, the rest could be used for “how to be a good cop, not a bad cop, and to make yourself a treasure of the public not a curse” training.

    They could show this video as part of the training, a mere 1 min 28 of excellent advice!

    Wrong. Often officers…” – Garyw

    Given that my comment was a response to Paul’s, and ours were about the CPS, whereas your response is about officers, one must conclude that actually it is you who is “wrong”. Even if I were talking about officers, by your own admission, I would still have been correct. Trying to blame it all on the Conservatives is a bit ridiculous tbh…

    @paul178

    They’re quite good at getting convictions, just mainly against generally “good” people, rather than against the people who are responsible for most of the crime. I bet they get loads of speeders, but probably not so good at getting repeat burlgars.

    Indeed, and now members of the pubic need to ask themselves, am I dealing with a good cop, or a violent thug or tax collector with a stick?

    Once again I think more control by the public themselves would be a good solution.

    Sentinel R1 would probably be a better cover for the role. It can’t replace a P8, but we’d have to pay for the P8.

    @Dazza

    If they were desperate for votes they’d have max’d out the national credit card like the previous government did, and have announced a referendum on membership of the EU. I don’t think votes are that significant. Getting spending in their constituency could be more of a factor, as per Gordon Brown and the aircraft carriers.

    Being late isn’t that big of an indicator, maybe they just find it hard to get up in the mornings? Going to bed during the work day, or no turning up at all, is really rather taking the pi$$.

    Here is how the benefits is spread out (for 2011). The group blamed for benefits the most is the unemployed worker “too lazy to get a job”, but this is clearly a prejudiced view, not based on fact. With the state pension, pension credit, and winter fuel allowance, the pensions are by far the largest cause of our benefits bill. The “too lazy to work” worker is responsible for a part of Jobseeker’s allowance and a part of housing benefit, a fraction of the pensioners. Tax credits is probably one of the easiest to make savings in, though Labour would oppose it I’m sure!

    …….and if all the Brits working abroad were forced to return to the UK the unemployment rate would be ?

    Given many of the countries they went to, such as Aus, run a work permits scheme, it would probably be neutral or improve the employment figures!
