RBS 15 just like the Gripens and those wonderful Sisu trucks.

So says the brochure, but my point was are they actually integrated yet? 😎

Do the Visby’s even have missiles?

But what would be the point? UK isn’t going to operate F35B now.

    Exports.

Well as I said at least one of the F35B for the UK was in production, it will probably be swapped with an F35C from a later production Lot. Either the Marine Corp or the Italians will probably end up with it.

It might be good to have one for development though, gives an opportunity to test upgrades for the F35B, much the same could be said for the A variant too.

If aircraft overtly damage the ozone layer, why would they try to repair it covertly??

If any airline (or military) are trying to do some good in this world, why are they not jumping up and down shouting “Look at us, we’re saving the planet!!”

    You know why?……………they’re not.

That’s why this is still bo****ks.

Tridents pretty much nailed it, end of.

If you are interested in debating this, getting all heated and attacking me is probably not going to get you anywhere as I am just relaying information I have read and take no position on the topic. Also, try to be less emotional 😉

Interesting….. it seems that UK still has to buy a few F-35B…..

    http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=5078474&c=AME&s=AIR

Defense giant Lockheed Martin Corp. has received a contract worth $3.48 billion to manufacture 31 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft for the U.S. and U.K. militaries, the Pentagon announced Nov. 19.

The contract for the Lot IV aircraft will cover the production and delivery of 16 short take-off, vertical-landing (STOVL) F-35B Lightning aircraft for the Marine Corps, four F-35C carrier variants for the Navy, 10 F-35A conventional landing jets for the Air Force and one STOVL aircraft for the British Royal Navy, according to the announcement.

Are you sure thats not a demonstration and development aircraft? As there were 3 or 4 ordered by the UK. They are not intended for use “in service”, though I don’t see why they shouldn’t be used at RIAT and at Farnborough every 2 years alongside their test and continued development duties.

Instead of large vessesels, i would opt for the Stridsbåt 90, armed with Hellfire. PRB, will have to resupply from sea, even if they succeede in landing. Equip the 2 costal battalions with them. You now have the ability to strike fast, hide and redeploy forces along the coast.
The Stridsbåt 90 was designed to act as a costal guerilla vessel against superior Soviet numbers, it is ideal for this job.

For the rest i dont kno
    Yet:)

Hellfire is a bit of a light missile, it would probably be better to go with something designed to attack ships.

What would be in these ‘chemicals’?

    Why?? To what end??

Releasing ‘chemicals’ at 30,000′ say over London, would probably land on Moscow, hardly precision:rolleyes:

So why has nobody been caught refilling a BA B757 at LHR with chemicals??

    Is it a conspiracy theory?

    Who is doing it??

I can tell you why there are no answers to the above…..

    Its bo****ks:rolleyes:

How anybody can be suckered into this rubbish is beyond me.

I doubt they would want to dump chemicals over London, more likely the North Pole as thats where the ozone damage is worst.

The Chemicals could be something to reduce global warming, so perhaps some thing like fine bit of aluminium to form some kind of reflective cloud. That is of course assuming you believe in global warming or the possibility to prevent global warming or that they are attempting to do so, all are well up for debate.

Probably not a weapon of any kind. Aircraft sprays are likely to be interactions between the wing and the air, fuel dumps, fire fighting drops, and I’ve heard some things about them being used for forming rain and for o-zone layer work IIRC.

If these were chemtrails, which IIRC are for reducing the worlds population, then I’d guess they’d not film it…

Where do you intend to buy them:confused:
Plus, they are of not so great value without proper delivery means. Or you plan on sending a lunatic with a backpack who is about to become the most famous suicide bomber?

Or you have idea of buying one of Russian Typhoons (fully packed) which are about to be decommissioned? Which wouldn’t be that bad idea:D

Most of the equipment of Durango seems obsolete and any assault by its neighbors would be a walk in the park for them. Even $2bn would hardly change the situation. Buying a bit of everything for all armed forces would just make them look nice but would hardly make for a credible deterrent.
It really takes a lot of thinking to figure out what can be done with this amount of money, so I’ll think of it tomorrow…

Obviously one would have to develop them, though its hard to say what this would cost. Nerve gas would probably be more economical anyway. The deterrent could probably be based on two to three diesel SSKs with some high speed land attack missiles.

This was not for that reason that i posted the same kind of message asking for the topic not to drift away.

The reason is simple: This is a topic about a missing person so i check for news hoping he’s okay; i check for news by seeing bold thread titles indicating you have new messages in this thread hoping to have news…instead i have a dicussion on manned vs unmanned planes..

As Grey Area said, there is a difference between being respectful, and acting like we are standing there whilst the family is speaking at the funeral. Sure, if we start talking about manned vs unmanned aviation at the funeral while the family is giving a speech then that would be one thing, but discussing unmanned vs manned aviation as related to the incident (not my idea btw) on a forum about aviation then its quite another. We need to avoid going OTT with it, its not as if anyone here is a close friend of the pilot, and if that were the case then it would be better to have one thread for the incident and another for condolences in any case.

Out of respect for the family and the airmen can we stay on topic?

Sure, and as part of that I’m sure Sanem will be willing to remove his previous post in much the same way I’m not responding to it, in respect of the airperson and the airperson’s family 🙂

People already try to sue the SAR guys. My Uncle worked for the MOD once and had to deal with a case where the rescued people sued because the winch crew popped the inflatable raft they’d drifted out to sea on so it didn’t get pulled up into the rotor.

I’d be tempted to smack them in the mouth 😡
