Thanks I’ll try contacting him to see if it’s the correct Lee Schaller.
I just discovered a post on WIX forum which states 44-84962 is a false serial. Anyone know anything about that as it’s the s/n that interests me because of its supposed history with the ROKAF.
Thank you for the quick response Mike.
Anyone out there have any pics of this machine and the contact details of Lee Schaller?
Look out for an article on ROKAF F-4’s in AFM this year! And also a book on ROKAF Phantoms……. 😉
Racking my brains on this one, I can’t think of a Herald outside in 1970, but there was one parked un-attended well back in the main shed at the Radlett end, right by the Accounts computer room. I don’t seem to have been particularly interested in it as I don’t remember the reg and no one seemed to know why it was there. It was presumably a flyable one as us mere apprentices were warned to keep away. It was however an unusual place to park one and suggests that it was at least temporarily out of action. FWIW.
Thanks for posting that.
CAA’s GINFO website lists G-ARTC as ‘destroyed’ 23.03.67 so I assume the 1970 report is not correct.
Hi guys
Apologies for bringing this thread back to life but I’m currently researching the Herald for a book and am looking for photos of G-ARTC withdrawn from use on the airfield. Can anyone help or recall her WFU top end of the airfield near the railway line? I understand she was scrapped in 1970 following HP’s demise.

The F-4E is still used in the ATA role by the ROKAF.
Hi Geoff
Thanks for the comments. We are fully aware of what’s involved and do not underestimate the enormity of it. However, we would not be setting a precedent as shipping warbirds from one part of the globe to another for display purposes has to my limited knowledge been completed many times over the years. I guess part of it will come down to how much the appetite an owner has to do it.
As to location, well spotted. It doesn’t however mean the destination is Korea. 😉

Ah yes, apologies, typo…of course 2014.
Thanks for the advice TA.
If the opportunity comes off and there’s a willing owner/operator/pilot then it is too early to post in the public domain hence the requirement for contact via PM. All I can say is the opportunity will be a first and it involves flying in Asia summer next year.

How do you know the s/n of the T-50 lost today?
Back to the Korea campaign…local press reporting DAPA has suspended bidding as all 3 bidders are above the budgetary limit.
Not sure what happens next. Some think they’ll reduce the order number to be inside the budget number.
RAF Typhoon in Qatar, performing trials it seems
2 twin sticks from 29 were at it today!
So does anyone really know what is happening now?
Following Belslow’s post of March last year, if accurate, I can’t really see it flying, so why all the work?
Also interested. Can you send me a PM with details also please.
Tks.
