IAF is interested in the Mig29K concept but wants to see and feel a
IN prototype first before commiting to a -29 upg program. available funds are going into lots of places including the Jag and -27 upg progs. Bison upg is nearly complete.

in clear waters looking from above wouldnt it be possible to visually see a submarine to a depth of tens of meters ?
the P3 may also have been dropping sonobuoys on exercise and made a contact.

and the Dhruv did this with the “weak” engine. the Ardigen engine
should improve payload & safety margin into the region.

that would mean the south african darter++ developments and the SD-10 are not hopeful.

why waste $$ when these two ‘better’ streams of products are available. ukraine is not marketing any aam on the market to my knowledge.

if one desires to go in low against a serious enemy, some means must be found to survive atleast a combine of Tor/Spyder + Pantsyr/Tunguska class systems.

    gets more and more suspicious….

    Mirage crashes, pilot ejects safely

GWALIOR: In the second mishap involving a Mirage in less than a month, a fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force caught fire and crashed tonight in a dense forest at Barsota, about 75 kms from here, 20 minutes after take-off but the pilot ejected safely.

The aircraft, which took off from an airbase here at 8.40 PM on a routine sortie, crashed at around 9.00 P.M. On Gwalior-Morena border, district collector Rakesh Srivastava said.

Srivastava said the pilot Gururani ejected safely.

A search team of IAF and police and an ambulance has been rushed to the spot, they said.

A Mirage two-seater trainer aircraft had crashed near here on October 12 but its two occupants ejected safely. Prior to that, another Mirage had crashed on September 23 and in this case too the pilot bailed out safe.

This was fourth crash involving a Mirage in the last two months.

Blackcat, maybe the 9M96 missile has similar thickness as Shtil and
is longer giving you the range you need (300km is not possible, its
max range is quoted as 120km).

But we need to work out a good generalized VLS system with russia with adapters so that a mix of missiles like sa-13(kashtans) quad packed, 9m96, klub, brahmos, barak or sa-n-12 may be carried.

or else go with Sylver + aster and stick to it. but make sure its the long version of Sylver and Aster30!!

Colour and precision mark Indo-French air display:

[India News]: New Delhi, Nov 7 : It was a display of power and precision as Indian aircraft matched French jets at a joint aerobatic display Sunday to mark 50 years of partnership between the two countries.

Indigenous Suryakiran aircraft performed their signature nine-aircraft stunts, even as an eight-member Alphajet fleet of the French air force’s Patrouille de France, one of world’s oldest full-time military aerobatic teams, enthralled the people with brilliant twirls and twists at the Air Force Station at Hindon, on the outskirts of the city.

“The French and Indian air forces have shared very good relations in the past and with this joint display, we look forward to many more years of successful co-operation,” said S.P. Tyagi, who heads the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force and has been named its new chief.

French Ambassador Dominique Girard too echoed him when he said: “Both the countries’ air forces have a lot of things in common. We have a lot of vision for the future, (since) as a country, we see India as an essential part of today’s and tomorrow’s international affairs.”

In the past, India had earlier acquired from France Toofani, Alize, Mystere IV, Jaguar and Mirage 2000 aircraft. The Indian air force is now in talks with France’s Dassault group to buy 130 more Mirage jets.

There is another major defence deal in the pipeline, with the Indian navy getting set to buy French-made Scorpio submarines. Several joint exercises and displays are also planned for the future, officials said.

“Next year, there would be a joint navy exercise, Varuna. Also, a high-level meeting has been planned between defence personnel of India and France this month to make plans for more future joint displays,” Girard said.

Sunday’s joint display, which was the second between the two aerobatic teams, saw an extravagant display of aircraft manoeuvres and skydiving feats.

Alphajets coloured red-white-blue emulating the French flag flew upside-down, twisted and twirled in mid-air and flew even at right angles to one another.

The red-white Suryakiran jets, spewing tri-coloured smoke, proved no less. The nine-member fleet darted high in the air till they were reduced to mere specks and then swooped down with exactitude.

the RN inspite of its >1 carriers cannot go into the kind of battle the Kuznetsov(fully trained up) or the Cdg can do and expect to survive. the RN doesnt have any Aegis or Aster equipped ships at
the moment, nor fix-wing carrier borne E2.

so in effect their year-round ability is limited to very modest land based enemies and ASW work. they cannot operate alone with a
SAG in dangerous territory unless the USN resources are around.

we saw the first photo of Saragika from the DRDO brochure recently. I think the sagarika would be a sea launched cruise missile different from prithvi. Its carriage tube on the TEL
was too thin to accomodate the fins of the prithvi (they are fixed fins, not flip-out).
its dimensions would be like a brahmos from the pic. perhaps its just a name for the land attack extended range version of brahmos.

so who flies the Ivory coast airplanes – local crew or merceneries ? If its the latter they’d
already have gotten out of town by now.

why should it go through unless the warhead fuse is a dud ?

depending the approach speed the warhead will be impact fused to
detonate the appropriate number of microsecs after the first shock
    of entry.
