Actually we all ought to be grateful it was brought over to the UK and aired last year shouldn’t we?
It would have been all to simple to leave it in NZ, I for one am grateful someone took the time and trouble to bring over here last year…………………….
Ah, mystery sort of solved then.
Thanks
Bloomin ‘eck, how do these people find the time?
I thought I knew what was where at Duxford, sort of. I saw a yak in the hangar but didn’t check on the second one I didn’t have time to stay ands see if it was coming in or going out. Maybe someone one was at Duxford in the afternoon and could comment on progress?
Goes with out saying I hoped it was an arrival!
There wern’t any engines in the container but it didn’t look like a p.38.
Whoops, hope I haven’t spoiled a surprise!

there was a certain p.51 and harvard over suffolk today me thinks……….
Just be aware that there is an issue on DVD-R (or +r) as an archive medium. It is regarded in some areas as better to use DVD-RW. With video on -R/+R there are reports that after a number of plays (40?) the medium is breaking down.
Temperature seems to be a critical issue. |There again I have jet to have a issue – brand of burner/ disc may be important………….

You have to split your request two ways.
Burning which Nero would do but may cause you a few problems with the second factor authoring for which you need to decide how clever you want to be, ie Menus, sub menus, chapter inserts etc. Popular options are DVD Workshop/ Impression and some video editing now incorperate this in the overall rendering option.
Also be aware on cheap discs, the quality of the disc is far more important than with cd-r. If you plan to send dvd-r to others then go for quality Rytek or similar (and invest in a -RW for experiments).
I have mailed you details for software although your box was full the other day?

Warbird UK – re: Ease of maintenance and commonality.
It is a British aeroplane, you wouldn’t want to compomise and chnger the habits of a nation would you?
Ever tried to get the starter motor /clutch/etc out of a Morris 1100?
Black Knight
Which is interesting really as the second t-33 never got around to being painted up – it was just bare metal as far as I recall.

DVD Writers, you really want to know.
Pioneer 104/105 DVD-R or DVD-RW, popular and DVD-R was set to be the new VHS.
Sony now have a new DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW unit but they are oversubscribed as I understand it and their are allegedly technical problems delaying release.
However, Philips have a set top DVD+R/RW machine at £440 which is producing excellent results, even the SAMSUNG 709 plays the discs I believe (take note DB). This has given the +R camp a big boost as it was originally assumed the -R camp would win.
So whaddya do in the mean time?
I write to DVD-R and find that most modern DVD set top players will read these discs with full menu control etc. (except DB Samsung of course). 4.7gb is enough to get over an hour of quality video on. At 25 frames per second that is an awful lot of piccies.
If you just want to record to a DVD then the Philips is a great machine but has only a basic menu page and although it has a firewire input and sort of multisession, should really be regarded as an advanced high quality Video Recorder.
Thats it, except you need to be careful about which media you use and don’t stick labels on the discs of any sort.
Cheers
Chris

RE: Aircraft / Bomb Tugs
Think your timing is out for a TE 20 as a ww2 tractor. Will check om monday but think that 1949 is a critical date……..
Think DBrown are the tractors you typically see as tugs in ww2.
TE20 was produced by Ford prior to Ferguson but will see what I can rake up.
